Alastair noticed that Samantha had not come out of the kitchen since the time she had entered it, and he frowned slightly. He did not like the distance between them, and all he wanted to do was go to her. But he controlled himself for his wish would be fulfilled soon. His frown vanished when he sensed a gaze on him, and his eyes searched for the person who was sneaking glances at him. He was not surprised to find who it was. He grinned when the old matron peeked at him again, baffling her completely.
'Martell was right. The lady knows something about Samantha. Otherwise, she would not be sneaking glances at me.' Alastair thought, keeping his eyes fixed on the old matron who had had her head lowered. 'Does she know about Samantha's identity? Does she know who she is?' He titled his head and watched the woman clasp her fingers in nervousness. 'I need to find out what she knows. I need to make sure she is not minacious and will never hurt Samantha.'
