"Speak the truth, or you will be punished." Alastair took a step towards Lillian, and the girl scurried back in fear. "Choose your option well." He did not threaten her, for he did not believe in them. He imposed his decision on her, giving her no choice. He had trapped Lillian in his words, and the maid was stuck as to what to do.
Lying was not an option as that would only get her punished, and Lillian had no idea what her punishment would be. And she did not have the courage to say the truth, especially after seeing how the King was glowering at her. Lillian was lost and scared, and all she wanted to do was escape from the place, from the King, from the intimidating man.
But Lillian knew that running away would only make matters worse for her. It would not take the King even a moment to catch her. Lillian had heard about the King's abilities in the passing and how could they not be true? Moreover, his men were everywhere, and they would catch her like a culprit.
