Samantha pursed her lips and grasped her fingers tight. Her mind was already in chaos and the Queen only added more to her disturbing thoughts. The King's behavior the previous night had struck the chord of fear in her and nothing the Queen did or said alleviated it. Instead, her apprehension only rose as time passed.
"Samantha, there a few truths you must know. You will find out about them slowly. Alastair will disclose all he has to tell you when the time comes. But before that, I wish to tell a few of the secrets myself." The old Queen held Samantha's hands, her eyes pleading with her to listen to her.
Samantha stayed silent, waiting for the woman to continue. Though she had no idea what she wanted to speak about, she had a hunch that whatever it was, it was quite important. It mattered to the King and his family. Otherwise, Queen Daphne would not have hesitated to speak her mind.
