Chapter 16 - "...Care To Run That By Me Again?"

Teaser: Ryosei collapses after trying on all the clothes Eika arranged for him, overwhelmed by the ridiculous amount of money spent on each of them.

————————————————————————————————

Rurielles had known Eika for centuries now.

She had seen her kill people for insulting her hairstyle, reward others for being cowards and running from her when she'd been pissed, commandeer a battleship in the middle of a war just for the Hell of it, seriously contemplate and threaten the cultural genocide of the aforementioned people who insulted her haircut, and had even seen her tame monsters before setting them off into the wild, just to see how they would adapt after being pampered and loved by her.

Hell, she had even seen her once make a deal with a the strongest (and at the time ugliest) vampire, switching his strength for the beauty and charisma he had lacked, and set him loose—just to perform a social experiment on vampiric society. Now that she thought of it, it had been a while since she'd seen him; she hoped he was okay—he was pretty cute.

At this point, she could confidently say that she had become accustomed to her surprisingly childish shenanigans to the point of desensitization.

"How do the clothes fit, are they perfect, do they need adjustment? No worries about the money—I got it covered after all, though it's worth an arm, a leg, and quite possibly bankruptcy for both the supernatural and mortal realms.

"I hope you honor my compensation for your fragile mental state, I'll continue to reimburse you for so long as you are traumatized. I also hope that the possibility of modern society collapsing doesn't further traumatize you—then I'd need more money and need to by more clothes for you."

So she wasn't all that shocked with how she spout bullsh!t from right off the bat when concerning Ryosei's and quite possibly the world's "debt", nor was she shocked when she saw that ironically devilish smile on her lips. She knew her friend was a person who loved messing with people, especially up tight, serious people who take things too seriously and are actually responsible.

People like Ryosei, for instance. Or the world.

Y'know, small stuff.

Of course, Eika is the type of person who would put the world of the supernatural and the mortal realm into absolute chaos by bankruptcy, just to satisfy her curiosity over a social experiment on how both societies would adapt, and a study on human and supernatural instinctive behavior.

Eika, much like her father, was a being of insatiable, unquenchable curiosity; they would go to any length, pay any cost, commit any sin, all for the sake of indulging their spoiled and never ending, ever growing, ever changing curiosity.

However, for both of them, an "almost" was added before "any", which is why the very fabric of everything isn't supremely screwed up—and because Eika is also the lazy type who despises cleaning up after troublesome messes, she wouldn't ruin the world for the sake of her curiosity.

Hopefully, that is. You never know with the ones who carry the Pentagram.

Though she had to admit, seeing Ryosei's empty expression on the boys admittedly handsome face was kinda funny—of course she'd never show it outwardly, and in keeping with her calm expression, she simply blinked at the panic in his eyes.

Showing that she enjoyed the entertainment Eika produces would lead to one of two reactions from her: either she'd laugh with her, or stop laughing and get extremely possessive over the source of her curiosity and amusement. Now that Rurielles had seen the boy, she suspected the second reaction was the most likely; she'd always adored pretty things...

And the boy in front of her certainly classified as a very, very pretty thing.

He was relatively tall for a Newborn High Demon, standing over 6 feet with handsome, angular features of mixed ethnicity of European and Asian origins. He had a strong yet slim build, muscular but not overly so in a fashion that she knew Eika preferred—to simplify, he seemed to be exactly Eika's type, from the fairer coloration to the build.

In fact, he matched it so perfectly that it was hard to believe it was a coincidence.

There was also something else that she felt like she was missing... something not right, something... wrong. Unnatural. The World seemed to make too many exceptions and not enough restrictions over his existence, and it felt WRONG.

"Ruri? What's up—I know my Ryosei is a cutie but there's no need to stare so intently... *gasp* Could it be you've finally had your sexual awakening—?!"

Rurielles immediately slapped Eika over the head, her expression hardly changing as she smoothly said, "Nope, still asexual. I was just a little curious about Ryosei here, it's nothing much. Pardon my manners, I'm Rurielles Norn, the proprietor to this establishment and unfortunate "best friend" and colleague of Eika. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ryosei."

Ryosei gave a charming but small smile, shaking her outstretched hand firmly as he softly replied, "Likewise ma'am. My name is Ryosei Mors, and I am unfortunately Eika's current "Turned", though I prefer victim. It is a pleasure to meet you, ma'am."

Rurielles smiled, "Call me Ruri Ryosei; like my sisters, I'm not one for honorifics. And, "victim"...?"

It was then Eika, not liking how they both ignored her existence, butted into the conversation, leaving Rurielles in a state of shock when she realized what Ryosei meant by victim.

"Hey, what do you mean "victim"?! Sure, I set you on fire a couple times and even simulated a couple kidnappings, but I haven't done anything drastic—"

"Kidnapping is a felony, as well as arson—!"

"Pfft, only by HUMAN rules—"

"We both live in a human society! Burning me alive is tantamount to premediated murder, and kidnapping is questionable in and of itself!"

"But, it's not like you DIE when I set you on fire, so it CAN'T be premediated murder—"

"Okay then, do you prefer assault?!"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, hold up, hooold up," Rurielles held out her hands from her body, her expression scrunched up a bit before she slowly turned to Ryosei, her emerald eyes incredulous as she pointed to him and said quietly, "...Care to run that by me again? She did what?"

Eika, in realizing that she had entered the "calm before the storm" stage temperament wise from Rurielles, immediately tried to intervene and twist the story into her favor, but the spirit of Ryosei who had been trampled upon one to many times by Eika valiantly went on unabated in finally naming all the injustices that she had done to him.

"It started the week I had Turned, the... "training". She woke me up in the middle of the night, holding my by my ankles over the city before dropping me from the fuxxing SKY! I fell, screaming as she yelled at me, "'It's wakey wake time!'" before laughing at my panic.

"I was able to somehow break my fall with an ice slide, but no sooner had I caught my breath in the street I had landed in, I heard a whistling sound, and when I looked behind me, I saw her—standing over me like the Grim Reaper with a scythe in hand and a smile on her face, laughing manically as she screeched, "'Tick tock goes the clock, I'm gonna get you~!'"

"I scrambled away, barely dodging the attack before running from her and hiding, trying to find a way to escape her, but she'd always appear, right when I caught my breath, and she would always try hacking me to pieces! I figured that we were in an alternate dimension with the way no one was there to answer my cries, and the way the scenery would always change, no matter what I did.

"After a night of running, morning would come, I'd go to school with her, and she would badger me about not being good enough, and would even invade my mind. Then the same thing would happen every night, with her endlessly chasing me and me endlessly running. Then, when two weeks had passed—and that's when she'd start waking me up with me in an inferno.

"I'd wake up, burning alive and screaming before she'd dump water on me with a disgruntled expression and say, "'C'mon you big baby, you can do better than that!'", before setting me aflame all over again. Then the kidnapping happened, and the horrible, horrible escape rooms; walls closing in around me, flames coating the walls, spikes coming from all sides, bombs that I'd have to diffuse or else I'd be swallowed up—every torture and horrible thing you'd have in a room she had, and I had to escape. Every. Single. DAY.

Ryosei broke down sobbing, muttering with a scarred look on his face, "It was horrible, horrible..."

Lorleilorn gently rubbed his shaking back, consoling him and his trauma before she glared at Eika. Eika, who had broken out into a cold sweat, snapped at her, "What?! C'mon, that's easy! That's not even all that bad, it could be a billion times worse—"

Rurielles simply slapped her over the head again before forcing her to formally bow in front of Ryosei as she softly intoned, "I apologize for what this ignorant child has done to you; please understand that she doesn't mean harm—she's just insensitive to others sufferings and pains is all."

Eika wriggled a bit before hissing at her, "Why're you doing this, it doesn't constitute bowing before my lesser?!"

"Shut up, we both know that you want to apologize, but are so socially awkward that you can't do it like any sane person would. Now pipe down and bow you idiot, and try giving him a break, for Hell's sake!"

And so ended the ever so eventful and impromptu shopping trip between the four Supernatural's.

Perhaps if they'd all known what was to come, they wouldn't have criticized Eika's methods; because, by dear Lucifer would that poor boy soon need resistance to her flames.

Especially, since she wasn't meant, and couldn't, stay for long...
