'Chirp...! Chirp...!'
The sound of the bird can be heard hazily from the outside, as the light from the window slid in through the thin dark green curtains. It had been quite a while since the light touched the smooth white skin of a woman in her nightgown which was also wrapped in a blanket. There was no movement except for her chest which was calmly expanding and contracting. The golden strands of her hair refracted the light that rained down on them.
'Feels warm'.
The girl's cute fingers woke up, followed by weak movements of her eyelids, revealing a serene hazel bead of eyes. She rubbed her eyes briefly, then turned to the light source that was touching her body warmly.
"..."
Soon the girl sat beside the bed, leaving her comfortable blanket strewn behind. She stretched her hands up. The girl yawned briefly, the corners of her lips slightly raised as the girl delved into her thoughts. After a few moments of penance, the owner of the golden mane began to get away from her alluring bed. It's unknown where the spirit energy came from, but what was certain was that she immediately jumped up to the window and pulled the curtain. Now the warm sunshine no longer shyly crept in.
She opened the window, then her hands rested on the window. Her hazel eyes soaked up the refreshing morning view of a village. She breathed in the fresh air that was cold and slightly piercing.
The girl smiled.
"Good morning, Rosmaid."
----------
"Evelynn, can you help us? We're a little confused about what to look for around the village."
"Hey, Eve, I wanted to report to you that the materials required to repair the village facilities are now out of stock and we have a lot of buildings damaged, can you ..."
"Eve! Bad news, for some reason the runaway sheeps are already across the river, do we have to chase them and lead them back? But isn't there ..."
"Evelynn!"
The figure of the girl surrounded by the humans around her could only be stunned as she continued to walk slowly, trying to remain calm amid the calls from all over. Before she had time to answer, another question had already cut her in. She let out a long sigh when the calls ended in chaos because everyone wanted to be answered first.
Oh dear, she thought.
"Okay, okay, everyone, please stop, I won't answer you all if this commotion continues," Evelynn opened a path in front of her then turned to them. Her hands were on her hips while tightly gripping a lapboard containing several documents which she had pinned there.
It was suddenly quiet, with all eyes on Evelynn. The girl smiled and read the document she was holding.
"Alright, for starters, I will answer Gwen's question, before I assign your team to look for useful items that might be scattered around the village, right?" Evelynn glanced at the girl with short brownish hair who asked the earliest. Gwen nodded slightly in answer to her question.
"Yes, the items I mean here are things that still have their use. For example, if you find a patch, then take it because we can reuse it for various things. Likewise if you might find semi-finished materials. or tools that are still good and can be used, collect it. Oh, don't forget to sort everything you find by types. Also collect the trashes around and separate it to burn tonight ".
"I hope that assignment can be finished tonight, okay? Do I need to repeat myself?" Evelynn looked at Gwen, whose eyebrows were now raised as she nodded understandingly. "Okay, I'll move on. Devon, you and your team are tasked with collecting back the cattles that are now freed, right?" Evelynn glanced at the document again. "Now that I remember, the guard and patrol team submitted a report to me last night, and, thankfully, there is no sign of the remnants of the soldiers who are still here to carry out another attack. For the past few days there has also been no sign of another war. We can go out of the safe zone now. "
"So I hope you can gather the livestock that disappeared back before sunset. Try to find them all, then report back to Derek later that evening. I'm afraid the wolf will prey on them if the loose cattle are still in the wild," Evelynn gave a faint smile to Devon, whose face was now slightly flushed.
"Al-all right, thanks Eve!"
"Next, Troy. Your team is in charge of repairing the damaged village facilities. You have already collected data of remaining materials needed to repair tha facilities, haven't you? Prioritize the facilities that best support Rosmaid's activities. I recommend you the main village warehouse and also the waterways that might be damaged. If possible, at least those two facilities are finished today, considering there are many members of your team ".
Evelynn breathed a sigh of relief and closed her lapboard. She smiled at the people who were still waiting for him. "For any other less pressing questions I'll be answering at the meeting, now please disband and do what you can for now, okay?" the girl gave everyone a final smile and then turned away. She was lucky enough to stop on reflex when suddenly two young men from the village passed away with a large log on them.
"Oops, sorry, Eve. Let us pass first!"
"Yeah, sure. Keep up the good work!" Evelynn waved at the two young men and then walked back into the crowd of people on the street. Mothers carrying baskets of clothes to dry in the sun, fathers who are busy moving things, even children passing by. Some are playing, some are helping their parents work.
Eve smiled alone. The girl really liked this sight. The view of a busy village with its residents' activities and warmness. The scenery that she could see every day, Rosmaid with its warmth. She knows almost all of the residents there, both young and old. She has memorized every corner of the village and its small streets. She has also revealed various little secrets in Rosmaid.
Eve really loves her village.
"Derek!" Call Evelynn as she climbed out of the crowd toward the lawn of a house and into the meadow. His slipper carefully avoided the small mud puddle, until she came to the front of the two figures having a considerable body ratio.
The burly man holding a bow smiled and waved. Instantly his gaze turned slightly mocking.
"Hey, I never thought there would be a day when a beautiful woman came up to me first," he said with a small chuckle. He embraced a boy who had been beside him and was also holding a bow and arrow.
"Oh yeah, if only there's a tribute to you," Evelynn gave the burly man a small punch in the stomach, ending with her arms crossed across her chest. "You know what time it is, De~rek?".
"Oh, shit-" having yet to hit his own head and finish his words, the burly man named Derek stopped and closed his mouth. "... I mean, sorry, I forgot. Your brother here is going through so much improvement in his training that I'm getting a little too focused training him".
The two of them were silent for a moment, but Derek couldn't help laughing when he made eye contact with Evelynn who was also staring back at him. "Gosh, Evelynn. Stop killing me with your sharp gaze. Seriously, your little brother's archery skills are growing fast."
"Very well," Evelynn chuckled. Derek may have a disheveled stature and look grumpy, but the worst thing he ever did was curse the harshest word. The young village chief could not even speak harshly in front of Evelynn, and only the girl knew why.
Eve turned to the boy, whose now only chuckled hearing their conversation. "Luke, how was your training?" His fingers touched the strands of light brown hair that belonged to the boy whom he called Luke.
"You won't believe it, I shot right in the center of the circle in succession," Luke rubbed his finger with his nose and smiled broadly. "I hope you'll see my sixth shot, and I'll do it while running".
Evelynn smiled softly and stroked her brother's hair. "Honestly, I want to see it, but there are many things I have to do for the village," a sigh escaped softly. "You know this is a special day, right? Derek and I have to prepare everything".
"Oh," Luke's expression slowly changed, but he immediately covered it with a smile.
"Okay, of course, Sis. I just remembered, I have to help Aunt Annie draw water from the well".
"That's great, you're a good boy." Evelynn's hand touched Luke's shoulder and then kissed his forehead. She turned to Derek, who had been watching the two of them. "Derek, please prepare the village hall for the meeting this afternoon. I have to analyze Rosmaid's improvement to be your guide in the future".
"Yes, Ma'am," Derek chuckled, placing the bow on his own back and the remaining arrows in his waist pocket. "Evelynn, I don't think I should say this, but why do people as perfect as you exist?"
"I mean, you are beautiful, with your beautiful glowing golden hair. You are very gentle and polite. You are also very active in helping with the development of the village. People even like to mistake you for the real village chief".
Evelynn chuckled. "Gosh, Luke, don't listen to that, praise from a stalker," the girl corrected her golden hair in the wind.
She was reluctant to admit it, but that's how he looked like to the villagers. A dexterous deputy head of the village who is very diligent in her work. The girl who was born with blonde hair that sparkled in the light, with a slightly pale but clean skin, a feminine ideal body, and a sweet nature that her parents had taught her since she was a child.
It all makes her as the most well-known village girl from Rosmaid. There have been several times the royalty from the big kingdom had come to propose her a marriage, but they also had been rejected because Evelynn is too young for that. Even though she is now old enough to get married, she is still determined not to marry. Who knows how many men who approached her for a rejection.
She still doesn't want to change her heart.
"You said that, but I know in your heart, you're happy," Derek chuckled and had his hands on his hips, making Evelynn couldn't help but punch him in the stomach for the second time. "Ouch," Derek pretended to moan.
"Shut up, you seducer," she snorted lightly, before she heard the faint call of her name from afar. Evelynn sighed, and turned toward the source of the sound.
"All right. There's my call for work. I can't stay here long," the girl gave Luke and Derek a thin smile. "Derek, hurry to town hall, and Luke, Aunt Annie is waiting for you."
"Bye, see you later," Eve said as she turned away and waved her hands to the two.
Her feet stepped back and tried to avoid the small mud puddle. Slowly her thin smile faded. Evelynn lowered her head, even though she didn't really notice the path she was walking on. She sighed.
"Evelynn, we have something to ask!"
Oh well. Here it is. Evelynn Rosemary Avaron.
Today is a special day. That's why Eve had to give her all to do her best.
