Pino asks Derek to teach him all kinds of magic that Derek is good at. He wanted to know if he could master all that magic or not. He needed to prepare another weapon to hide his skills. After knowing that he could learn and use other elemental magic, he became even more excited to learn all about magic.
Of course, he also knew of the risks he had, if only someone or a group had known about his abilities, they might just as well attack him to do something risky to him. Pino thought of the easiest way to hide his abilities, just by learning all kinds of magic, whether physical or not. Knowing all of this, and having enough provisions, he would not be too worried if he met a frightening opponent.
