Sam avoided Jake for the whole way just to make sure she does not have to answer any of his questions. Especially questions that bring back past memories. She left the past a long time ago but something about it still kept on lingering in her mind.
All these years she didn't have to think about what he will say or what he thinks and that really bothered her. Now that Sid was actually bothering her and she could sense it but she is not at all happy about it.
"Where are we going? " Jake interrupted her thoughts.
He is the second person who is bothering her now. She didn't want to involve or even let someone else know about her relationship with Sid. Though Mon is the only person who knows the whole story as they were all together during their training.
The summer of 2013 comes in flashbacks across her mind.
Samantha's POV;
I was not dressed so well but just in my sweatpants. Monica and I went to get some water for us as we had stored it in our rooms by ourselves. Thankfully the authorities had put the purifier on the same floor as us. There was a huge queue in front of us waiting to fill in water.
The queue gradually decreased and by the end we reached the spot the tank was empty.
"Mon there's no water." I say.
"We have to buy it then. " She suggested.
Before we could leave the area someone called from the behind. I turned to see who it was and almost collided with the person. My eyes travelled through his whole body and only stopped at those gentle brown eyes. He was wearing a loose white T-shirt with a pair of khakis. I have never seen him on campus.
"Where are you heading to? "He said with a smirk on his face.
"What? Don't you know how to speak? "The other men standing beneath came out to say. He was wearing the same coloured t-shirts but just with black pants.
Their t-shirts seem to match each other and most probably were uniforms. I could even see a small logo printed on the chest but it was too small for me to read.
I was about apologise for bumping into him carelessly but Mon interrupted.
" We will definitely answer to people who ask proper questions?! "Mon answered as she grasped my wrist to pull me back.
"We were going back as there was no water. " I said before this turned into something else.
"Oh.. Ok. " The initial guy who asked me said.
We turned to go back but one of them tried to pull me or maybe just simply put his hand. Unknowingly as a reflex I pulled his hand ,then slightly lifted him just to make him fall on his back with a thud.
"Awww….damn." He grunted.
"I am really sorry. This was just out of habit. "
"Those defense training were indeed useful. " Mon stated.
Her statement made all our eyes go straight towards her.
"What is this? What did I do to you?The guy asked me as he stood up massaging his back.
That must really hurt.
" Nothing. Why did you pull me back? "I asked him back.
" To call you. "He said.
" You could have just called by name… "Just then I realized, how can they know my name.
"See! " He blurted with a wide grin.
"This is just a way to know our names? Sam don't tell them " Mon said without even realizing what she said.
"Okay Mon. "I agreed and winked at her as she figured out what was going on.
The boys chuckled.
" You can take water from the top floor as well. No need to buy it. Isn't it Jin? "The guy in khaki pants asked to the other guy.
" Yeah Sid is right. Thats what exactly we wanted to say you. "Jin answered addressing the khaki guy with his name.
They both chuckled.
" Okay, thanks. "I greeted.
We left for the top floor to do our job.
That's how I met Sid. Mon was an old friend app she knew the whole story. I never thought of meeting him again after that unless I saw him again a few days later.
The other day when I saw him in the field I did not recognize him at first but then Mon told me he looked similar. Seemingly, he was none other than one of our batchmates. We were in the same training camp but the rooms were separated for boys and girls. Maybe that is why we didn't see him earlier.
Well it was a little embarrassing for him because he was making rounds while his hands were straight up in the air. This was our punishment for being late to report. I could see how his mates were hiding back their laughs while still on their positions and Sid's face all red with embarrassment and heat.
