Kate's POV
I was awakened by a soft kiss on my forehead. Nate with his charming and gentle smile welcomed my sight as I opened my eyes. I smiled back at him before giving him a quick smack kiss.
"Last chance I could crash in your place?" I heard Nate whispered in my ears with a rather seductive voice.
As I looked around, I notice that we had arrived at my apartment.
I didn't answer his plea but I hug him tightly instead. I could feel his hot breath on my neck.
"How about you give me your schedule so that I can arrange a date for us to travel? Just us." I emphasized before I release him from my hug.
"I guess that would work too..." he responded as I squinted my eyes and adjusted my eyeglasses when I saw a scowl appear on his face.
"It will be fun!" I said and give him a light peck on his lips.
"It better be." Nate playfully said before grabbing his phone and sent me his whole year calendar planner.
"Okay, be careful driving back, Nate..." I said and was about to open the passenger door but he hugged me again preventing me to go out.
I chuckled and felt funny how this man acts so clingy.
"I don't wanna go back to my hotel. Mr. Rou arranged a girl to accompany me." Nate finally confessed. Ahh, so that's what it is!
"Oh? So I need to keep you safe tonight?" I inquired while eyeing him with seriousness. He just raised his eyebrows several times to confirm what I said.
I sigh. "Fine, you sleep on the living room couch. Mr. Rou does not sound like a good businessman." I mumbled as we both go out of the car.
To my surprise, Nate had packed a bag for this sleepover. I looked at him suspiciously as he closed the baggage of his car. He just shrugged his shoulder but did not say anything.
As I unlocked the gate, Nate quietly followed from behind.
"Our garage won't be able to cater to your car, Nate..." I said and gestured him to the area where our four cars are already parked.
"It's fine to leave it outside. I doubt if someone would do something in my car." Nate responded glancing back to his car.
"Okay." I murmured and when I was about to open the main door of my apartment, it was already unlocked! My eyebrows automatically crossed to a deep grimace.
I have always instructed my sister as well as Rain and Kate not to be complacent and to keep our door locked! How can they leave this door unlocked!
The three of them are in the living room. Candace is playing with Lorraine while Queen is on her laptop probably writing her story.
"Why is our door not locked?" If my voice echoed in the living room, then the disappointment laced on my tone has surely rung in their ears.
"Pause." I heard Candace said and paused her game. Lorraine also put down her console and looked up.
"I locked it earlier, Kate..." Queen declared in defense.
"Well, you guys must double check it next time if it was indeed locked. When I came in, it was not locked." I told them.
"Whoah, the guy last Saturday, what are you doing here?" Lorraine was the first to notice Nate from my back.
"Hi girls, I don't have a safe place to stay so I am staying overnight here." I heard Nate explained.
"Oh, okay..." Lorraine said and eyed me weirdly.
"Nate will sleep on the couch." I clarified and looked at them in the eye.
"Kate, did you know that the main exhibit was a car with a similar model as your phantom? And the name of the model is also Kate!" Lorraine enthusiastically said.
"Yeah, it was, Raine..." I responded while guiding Nate towards my room. He did not speak but as I turned my head on my back, I could see his eyes smiling.
Of course, the model was inspired by my phantom. He just added a few flashy details on it and named it after me. Who else would be his inspiration other than me?!
"You were serious with me sleeping on the sofa outside?" he asked after we entered my room.
"Yes. Go shower and change." I chuckled and left him.
I walked back to the living room and saw Candace still playing.
"Sleep early, Ace. Nate will sleep in here." I told her and looked at the screen.
"After this Halloween Quest..." Candace responded and did not bother to look at me.
I saw her character was in the middle of the cemetery.
"That's one hell of a spooky quest, Ace!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah, the quest is to kill 250 undead..." Candace replied as she let her character run from one coffin to another.
"That sounds an easy quest..." I told her and grab a chair to watch her play.
"The killing is easy. The problem is the undead NPCs are hiding on these coffins! Each coffin has a code that is needed to input before it would open. Easy but extensive!" Candace scowled at the monitor and shakes her head.
"Well, good game!" I joked and stood up. I went to the dining area and saw Queen typing her draft on the table.
As I grabbed a glass and pour water on it, I heard a frustrated sigh from her.
"What's wrong, Queen?" I asked her while drinking.
"I think I lost the momentum on my story, Kate." A depressed voice resonated in the dining area as she responded.
"Writer's block is very common on your field, Queen. While I am not a writer but you may let your character go to places. Let your male lead take the female lead on a vacation. Or you can introduce a new conflict with new characters perhaps? Outline and break all possible activities that the characters would do then, articulate them." I said and placed the glass on the sink.
"I don't know, Kate. There are lots of things in my mind. I'm totally lost! I don't know where to start!" Queen replied as she absentmindedly stared blankly at her laptop screen.
"Writing needs focus. Perhaps, you are thinking about other things?" I peered on her screen and saw an empty draft. That's a rather unusual sight to see.
"Kate, some stranger keeps on sending messages on my personal phone number..." she said with a bothered expression.
"Just change your phone number..." I told her the most direct solution that I know. She nodded her head and sighed again.
"I'll just probably sleep." she groaned and closed her laptop.
"Nothing beats a good rest. You can wake up at dawn and write." I suggested as we walked out of the dining area.
