The younger prince scowled as the light of dawn began to fill the sky and started his walk towards his brother's tent. He frowed as he heard arguing from within..
"Lady Illyria, you must rest" Telian roared angrily and the woman cursed at him, "my work is far from finished. He will die if I stop now."
Prince Sevran froze as he stepped into the tent and found the woman doubled over, drenched in sweat as her entire body shook. The woman did not even notice him enter, her full attention was on his brother who still looked deathly pale and still.
"Sire, she has been at this all through the night. Your brother has improved considerably, but she says he is far from safety…" the healer trailed off as the woman cursed and grabbed her her pack from the foot of his brother's cot.
"My lady, what do you need?" the prince asked gently as he caught her attention and she glared at him in annoyance.
"There is nothing you can do. I have no choice" she grumbled in irritation as she pulled out an ornate black box etched with silver and flipped it open. There nestled in black silk were two simple silver bracelets etched with ancient draconic runes and all of the healers whispered excitedly.
" what are you doing?" the younger prince snarled as he stalked forward and she looked up at him with annoyance.
"Kaldarian are healing tools we use in Sarvalon when the injury is too severe for traditional healing magic. it's a temporary bond that will allow my lifeforce and his to work in conjunction to heal him while I rest. We are only bound as long as we both wear a Kaldarian" she huffed in annoyance as she slipped the simple silver cuff around her wrist and the man before her stepped away. Then she reached out her hand to grab his brother's wrist, but the moment the silver bracelet touched his brother's skin the woman screamed in agony, grabbing her arm where the silver band was as it glowed white before she crumpled to the ground in a heap. Everyone froze as the Crown Prince groaned in his sleep and the woman writhed in pain on the floor beside him. Sevran dropped to his knees beside his older brother and ignored the whimpering woman beside him as she gasped for breath.
He frowned as he noticed a glowing ring of runes around his brother's right forearm as if the bracelet had melted and become one with his skin. After making sure his brother wasn't dead, he finally turned to look at the woman as she fell silent and froze as he saw Inky black runes in place of the silver bracelet that matched the glowing runes on his brother's arm.
"What the hell just happened?" Prince Sevran roared furiously he turned on his own healers and they looked at each other before looking back at him.
"Someone better answer me? What the hell did that bitch do to my brother?" the younger prince snarled warningly as he reached for his blade, but one of the men rushed forward to stop the prince.
"Kaldarian are only tools for healing so she couldn't have injured him. Calm down and let me take a look" Telian barked softly as he pushed the younger prince away and knelt beside his older brother.
Sevran watched Telian like a hawk as the older man used his magic to figure out what was going on with Prince Akazan.
"There is something very strange going on here. I cannot differentiate between their lifeforces and her magic is flowing into him like nothing I have ever seen..." he trailed off as the woman screamed in agony as she clawed at her chest and started to convulse, her eyes rolling back.
"leave her and save my brother..." Telian cut Sevran off as he turned to the convulsing woman and snapped, "He will live as long as her magic is healing him so we're going to focus on her. If she dies then he will have no chance at survival. Now get out so we can save them both!" The healer gently scooped up the woman as she screamed in agony and and he muttered a spell. after a moment she finally fell limply in his arms and the prince was pushed out by the other healers and medics.
"We need to get them both stable, but after that we need to take them both to Sarvalon. I have seen Kaldarian bonds before, but this is something different. There are no boundaries between their lifeforces and her magic is flowing as freely through him as his own" Telian muttered as he settled the woman on the cot on the opposite side of the tent and the other healers chorused in agreement.
Sevran glared up as Xagen barred his path into the healing tent and the dragon puffed smoke at him.
"let me pass" Sevran ordered and the dragon just started at him for a long moment and sighed, "The healers were adamant that you be denied entrance and I agreed to help them."
"my brother is dying in there" the prince argued angrily as he glared at the massive dragon woth frustration.
"Akazan is no longer in any real danger. I can feel that woman's magic healing him. Let the healers do their work" the dragon growled into his mind and the prince crossed his arms over his chest.
"I am the prince and..." the dragon snorted, "you could be the king for all I care, but you're not a healer and Master Telian asked me to keep you out. Apparently you are a distraction."
"I am worried about my brother..." the dragon cut him off with a deadpan as he sighed, "And you're not going to help him by barging in there, trying to give orders. Leave my rider to the healers and let them do their work."
"How can you be so calm?! Your life is tied to his!" Sevran spat and the dragon eyed him in annoyance as he puffed smoke out his mouth.
"The only one in any danger is that woman, she's going to burn her magic out if she doesn't stop. Akazan is in no danger because of her" the dragon mused as he yawned and the prince stalked off angrily.
