Tensed atmosphere filled the enclosed space. There were only two people in the lift - Sara and Lucas and it was getting more and more uncomfortable by the second. He has no one to blame but himself.
Even when he was angry, Lucas still ushered her out of the cafeteria and sent her back to her office. He wanted to skip work that afternoon and talk it out with Sara, away from the campus.
He wished it were that easy. People assumed he could simply abandon his work since he is the CFO but they have conveniently forgotten; with high rank comes with high responsibility.
He had already taken his leave yesterday for that lady and to miss another day, as tempting as it was, would be irresponsible of him considering work began to pile up.
To even think he planned to take Sara out without following the proper procedure, he could have jeopardised Sara's career – one that she treasured the most. Enough to be one of the many reasons she rejected to be by his side.
