"You wouldn't believe me anyway," she said with a sad little pout.
"Try me," he challenged her as his domineering voice raised slightly.
She wanted to tell Harith everything but she was afraid by divulging such information, she would unquestionably put her hopes high. However, she knew her hopes would fall so hard to the concrete ground, only to be smashed and scattered into tiny bits and pieces like a fragile item.
Because in the end, she knew Harith would never believe her. The same goes to Lucas. It was to the point where she would even dare to bet with her life to say if he had not seen her disappeared right in front of him, the odds to be in her favour was close to zero.
When Harith challenged her, she did not find the will in her to argue back. What was the point of arguing when the winner had already been decided? Might as well tell the truth than made up some lies that was bound to haunt her in the near future.
