Chapter 53 - Love is Faithful

House of Eros

*

"So, Psyche…..how is your husband? How does he look like? Is he around? Can we meet him?"

Cold enveloped the thoughts of the concerned lady of the house. She found herself trapped in the current situation, with an almost impossible way of getting out. Before she can think of anything else, someone banged the door open and entered her house.

"Hold your position, FBI is in!"

Psyche and her sisters were stupefied upon hearing another person's voice while they were busy chatting in the living room. Sister questions are now out, for Sayo who just came in, grinning like a brat.

"Now stop talking you two bitches and tell her what you really feel deep inside, yeah? Jealous much, no? Come on, spill the beans of your plans, don't be shy." She said again while fixing her stare directly at Psyche's sisters. Rexis, who was beside her, couldn't help but be amused at Sayo's boldness and guts.

"FBI, really? You crazy?" He softly said to her.

The two sisters remain frozen in their seats, while Psyche was stunned after her ears caught Sayo's words. Although she was a teeny-bit thankful for the interruption, she was curious about what the familiar-looking stranger said.

Speaking of the strangers, the invisible servant also stepped into the scenario. "Intruders! How did you manage to get in?!"

"What's the meaning of this? What do you mean?" Psyche finally remembered where she met these two strangers. They were the ones who took her away from her death march in Corinth prior to her being brought here by Zephyr.

"Intruders! How did you manage to get in?!" The invisible servant again asked.

"It's okay, I know them. And I want to know their purpose for coming here, please state your reasons." Psyche made the servant shut up and turned to Sayo and Rexis for answers.

Meanwhile, the two sisters nervously denied the allegations. "What do you mean we're jealous and plotting something evil? We're nothing like that!"

Well I never said your plans were anything like evil, did I? How did you come up with such assumption? Unless of course if I'm right?" Sayo wiggled her brows at them, clearly winning.

"It's nothing like that!" The two said in unison.

"Sup, princess, remember us?" Rexis said hello to Psyche. "Damn, this is such a fine house, no wonder why your sisters are so jelly."

"Let's not beat around the bush anymore and let's make this fucking fast. Psyche, those two talked to you about your husband, am I right? They were asking about how he looks like or if you've ever met him, didn't they?" Sayo turned her attention to Psyche and waited for her response.

Psyche was taken aback by their direct confrontation. 'How did they know about that?!'

Sister 1: "Psyche, don't believe them. We're your sisters, you're supposed to believe us!"

Sister 2: "Besides, we will never plot anything evil against our lovely sister. We're only here to talk!"

But Psyche's mind went somewhere else. She recalled the words of her husband from their conversation last night. Somehow, her nameless husband's words are making sense:

-(Eros)-

"Do what you will. But this might all end up with a terrible destruction for both of us."

"How so?" Psyche curiously asked. "Is my trust for you not enough?"

Eros thought for a while before he calmly replied. "I will allow it, but heed my warning. You must not let them persuade you to see me, or else, you'll bring great sorrow upon me and ruin upon yourself."

--

Her husband gave her a warning – a warning not to be persuaded by anyone to see him – or else, she will bring sorrow upon him and great ruin upon herself. She was overthinking about this the entire night, but when she reunited with her sisters earlier, all of these anxious thoughts vanished for a while, but resurfaced the moment she heard the words of the strangers from Corinth. Her heart tells her that she must be faithful to her husband.

'This must be it, there can be no other explanation for this.' She thought to herself. She finally made up her mind. She will settle this issue with her sisters once and for all. 'Breathe, Psyche.'

She faced her siblings. "Tell me honestly, what do you think about my husband."

The two were at a loss of words. They could not think of a believable lie that can fool Psyche and the two others who thwarted their attempt at an evil scheme. They weren't even able to utter a word when Psyche talked again.

"Were you thinking that he is some sort of malevolent evil? Some kind of monster, maybe? Or a demon or something?" She bore her eyes at them, then shook her head ever so slightly. "Sisters, while it is true that I haven't set eyes yet on my husband, I know for a fact that he is no monster nor anyone who must be prejudiced and feared like some ominous being. I am in love with him, and he is in love with me. We are made for each other, in our own special circumstances. Our faith in each other cannot be easily broken by mere doubts and temptations of the mind. We are more than just couples. We are…..life partners." She lightly blushed at that, for she finally was able to share to someone else how much she adores her husband.

Rexis: "Sounds like love."

Sayo: "Well, duh, he's Love incarnate himself."

Psyche: "Which brings me to my next point, my dear sisters. I love you so, you must know that. And father too. I miss you so much and I would love to be with you longer. But if you have no support for this marriage, and only doubts as to the truancy of our faith for each other, then I kindly ask you to please leave and watch us from afar, for we will prove you wrong, and show to the rest of the world that our love conquers all."

In the background, Sayo failed to hide her gagging from the cringe she just heard, and Rexis snorted from Psyche's words as well. The two looked at each other, and shared a common thought. 'Ancient Greeks.'

The siblings can't believe what they just heard. Their very own sister is sending them away, telling them to leave in the name of love. This wasn't what they really expected. They were mad, so mad now at her.

"You'll pay for this humiliation Psyche." Her eldest sister rolled her eyes at her as she said these words.

The other one passed by Sayo and Rexis with utmost disgust. "Hmph! You'll eat your words soon, Psyche. And then you'll come begging for us to accept you after your husband shows who he truly is."

The two reached for the exit, and outside, Zephyr was still waiting for them.

"Er – wanna ride home?" The God offered his services to them, which they took without another word and hesitation.

Back inside, Sayo clapped her hands after the brave move made by Psyche. "Girl, you make me proud. Nice speech."

"Eh ?" Psyche said.

"Now listen up and I'll tell you who your husband is. Don't be shocked, okay?"

And that prompted Psyche to listen intently to the next few words of Sayo. She doesn't know what to expect, but she's anticipating it, nonetheless. Finally, she will find out who her mysterious husband is.

"But – my lady, that would be –" The servant tried to interject in the conversation but Rexis cut her off.

"Shut it, invisible maid. Either you let her hear this spoiler, or let your master be hurt from keeping his secret from her."

Psyche's level of anticipation was now off the charts. She won't hear anything else this time other than the truth.

Sayo finally uttered it. "Well, girl, your husband is Eros himself, the God of Love. And he doesn't look like a baby cherub in diapers. If you'll see him, he's drop-dead gorgeous and it'll make you almost kill him with oil."
