The next morning, when I opened my eyes, I saw birds. I reached forward and parted the curtains of the leisure room. Light screamed at our eyes and I heard Kai groan as he welcomed the new day.
The sky was blue and the wind was calm. A few cars whizzed by the highway in front of the headquarters and some vendors were opening their stands. It was a deceivingly beautiful day. I looked up at the perfectly white clouds and smiled. There was no chance of rain either.
Today was the day.
"Are you nervous?" Kai asked me, instead of wishing a good morning first. I turned around and combed down my messy hair with my hands. "About us going to die?"
He shrugged and sat up straight too, his eyes following the clear blue sky. Even he thought it was too beautiful. "I don't know, everything. We haven't done anything like this even when we were trapped in the game. And if we do die, we would never find out what is actually there in Final Level."
