"Then why are we on this street?" Rose asked quietly. They heard a shuffle from the back and Lucas got a fright. But it was just James adjusting himself, he had not woken up just yet.
"It's the short-cut," Lucas tried to stay calm. "I heard there was traffic in the main road today."
"Oh," Rose leaned back against the car seat. "Alright then." She noticed Lucas' hands tightly wound around the steering wheel. His knuckles were white. The car further drove into a narrow, twisted lane, lined on both sides by thick trees. The canopies of the trees layered over one another and soon created a dense roof of leaves above them.
It was starting to get dark around them.
"Lucas, you sure about this short-cut?" Rose leaned forward and little and looked around. "It looks like we are in the middle of a forest."
