Fiona stopped her words and the static filled the silence before the other girl finally asked. "She's not picking up her phone… what happened?"
Saye furrowed her eyebrows. She had to tell Fiona, she was her best-friend after all, at least used to be. "She stepped inside Auria."
"Yes I know that…"
"She didn't return."
"What?" Fiona breathed into the phone. "She is trapped in the game? But how?"
"The very same group who is attacking the schools, the Spiders, sabotaged the whole thing and destroyed the Beamers and now we don't know how to get her out."
Fiona covered her mouth. "I wonder if she found Rumi and talked to her."
This frustrated Saye even more. "Do you not care about your friend? Only yourself and the people closest to you?"
"Excuse me?" Fiona asked, "Rumi was my sister!"
