I was about to show the group my worth. Sekka looked around to the merchants around us.
"We should set up camp in the caverns near the road up ahead," He shouted to the group.
Multiple people in the group scoffed at Sekka's announcement.
"Master," I spoke at a normal speaking tone, "The beast's are getting closer to the group."
I made sure I could be overheard. That was all it took to plant the seed of doubt. Fear edged into the eyes of the slaves first as the murmurs spread through the group. The whole group consisted of twenty-three slaves, and seventeen elven merchants. A nice round forty people.
It wouldn't be all that surprising that some of the slaves died when we got attacked.
"Nix," Sekka drew my attention to him, "Get on the bird. I'd like to get to the caves before dark."
I jumped up on the bird without hesitation. We accelerated ahead of the group quickly. The group accelerated with us. They would still have trouble keeping up with us. I was infused with well hidden gravity magic that made me as light as a feather.
The bird would barely feel my weight at all. Sekka spurred both birds to their full speed. Both birds accelerated. I was able to balance easily on the birds back as he ran. I ignored the amazement of the merchants, and slaves alike as I balanced easily on the back of the bird.
We were pulling away from the group. It made sense. There were only two of us. Our two birds weren't heavily weighed down like the others. I weighed almost nothing.
It would be near impossible for them to keep up with us. The beasts on this planet were more powerful then the ones back on earth, but they weren't the most powerful we'd faced. The slight sense of danger I felt from the pack that was headed our way told me that I shouldn't underestimate them. Sekka moved even faster. Pushing his bird to it's maximum speed.
We moved quickly heading for the caverns on the map. Sekka seemed to know this area a little. I might have to ask him something about it later. As the last rays of light fell beyond the horizon we saw the ridge that the caverns were situated within. I looked back, and saw that we'd pulled away from the group enough that they wouldn't be able to over hear us if we spoke.
"Do you want me to split off now?" I asked with a smirk, "That pack is getting quite close to the group back there. Some of their slaves may be killed once they get attacked."
"They won't see you picking the slaves off one by one will they?" Sekka asked with some doubt in his eyes.
"I can take the form of anything I eat remember," I smirked, "All they'll see is a massive beast killing their products."
"The mana from the transformation wouldn't draw attention if it were coming from the body of a beast," Sekka nodded, "As long as it won't give you away you can go have as much fun as you'd like."
I opened a portal to the cavern Sekka wanted to hide in. It took a little effort to get the birds to stop before they slammed into the back wall of the cavern. I helped them out with a little bit of gravitational pull. Stopping them from slamming into the back wall. The cavern was quite large, and very empty.
It looked like this cavern was used, and cleared quite often. There were some signs of beasts coming, and going, but nothing that stayed for long. I jumped off the bird, and tossed some of the wood into the firepit in the middle. Lighting it with a quick simple movement. All while cancelling out my presence in time using my new favorite spell.
I wasn't cancelling my entire existence out of time this time around. Just the part that made it look as if I was the one casting the spells. It was less mana costly then erasing my entire presence, but it gave away that Sekka could use both spatial, and fire elemental mana. I walked out the entrance of the cavern quietly. Drawing both my blades before running back toward the group.
Multiple beasts were getting closer to the group. They had six limbs similar to myself, and moved in a pack, but they were covered in what felt like scales instead of hair. The light of the torches glinted off my blades for a brief moment as I ran back to the group. I jumped over the first carriage. Landing on the roof gently before using it as a springboard, and breaking the roof as I jumped straight into the open jaws of what appeared to be a scaled wolf.
It didn't have any hair on it's body so the creature looked like an incredibly thin wolf. It had a boney frame, but it didn't appear like it was malnourished. It was pure muscle. Not an ounce of fat on it. It had a terrifying appearance.
Between the hard armored plates, and the wolf like build of it's body made it a hard opponent to beat. My swords hit it's arm length teeth. I shoved the whole beast away from the group with a mighty shove. The spatial attribute of my blade activated, but didn't have enough mana behind the attack to do more then break one of those teeth. The poisoned blade didn't manage to strike flesh so it didn't affect the beast.
My ability to throw the beast off was impressive. The group moved on ahead without me. The beast was way stronger then I expected. This would be the second time that I'd come into contact with something that could equal or exceed my physical strength without mana. The slaves that were walking behind the birds were currently being dragged along like worthless luggage.
