It was impressive that I could take on so many at once, and no one could really blame me for running when I was being attacked by more then twenty elves at once. I found the spread of their abilities interesting. They had their own rankings depending on their level of skill. It was fairly simple. For example a carpenter was referred to as a woodsman.
They were ranked by skill, and your skill level decided what kind of jobs you'd be allowed to take on. Each job title had four ranks so for a woodsman those ranks would be.
Apprentice woodsman
Woodsman
High woodsman
Imperial woodsman
Apprentice woodsman were basically expected to do all the wood chopping, and prepping of any wood that was to be used in any construction projects. Woodsman were permitted to actually build houses. Usually the housing for the poor or storage buildings, and such like that as well as everything below their rank. High woodsman were usually more magically inclined. They were usually expected to guide the growth of a tree over the span of several centuries.
Elves that were not magically inclined could reach this rank even without being talented in magic as long as their skill was beyond reproach. Then there were the Imperial woodsman. This rank could not be reached without a great deal of magical, and hands on skill. No one below Imperial rank would be allowed to work within the homes of the elven royalty, or the royal branch families. This planet was one of several planets controlled by elves, and the royals of each planet were selected from the royals of the planet that managed to conquer the planet.
High officials were promoted to nobility, and all of the royal families spread across the planet were related in one way or another. I chuckled mentally, and dragons are considered to be the greedy ones. Humans could also be considered as a greedy race if you thought about how easily the masses could be influenced by those in power. Humans would jump behind any human that offered them a path that would benefit them in any way. I felt no need to have ownership over any physical thing, but if you were to take something I valued from me I knew that I would fly into a rage even though no one had managed to take anything from me so far.
Thankfully there weren't very many things that I valued to that extent. I didn't even value Sekka that much, and he was important to this mission to the point that if he died this mission would end. I would not be able to continue without him. We departed the tunnel calmly with a full stock of crystals to sell.
Most of which were the quick made low quality ones. I walked along next to Sekka on his bird quietly for a few hours before stopping for the night. I slept on the ground with my legs crossed. Sitting up the whole time. It took very little to wake me from a dead slumber.
Then you add on the fact that I only needed about two hours of sleep in a twenty-four hour day. I only needed a few brief moments of sleep every few hours to keep myself alert, and aware the whole day. I didn't even need to be laying down to get that sleep. I could lean on a wall for a few minutes, and close my eyes several times a day. That was all it took most of the time.
I never slept longer then ten minutes at a time whenever others were around. This night was one of the rare times I was going to get a full nights sleep for the next few weeks. Our peaceful stride was observed in a negative light several times because of the swords on my hip. I ignored them for the most part.
The only reason I noticed them at all was because I felt their gaze on my back, and in my spatial awareness. I looked up at Sekka briefly before locking my eyes on the road in front of me again. I laced my thumbs through a few of my belt loops, and lapsed into deep thought. All this careful quiet mana movement had heightened my sensitivity to mana to a degree that made it easy for me to notice even the slightest amount of mana usage. I kept noticing mana being used by various elves near me.
Some of them were punishing their human slaves for looking over to me. A slave with a weapon was a rare sight. It turned heads. A dark smirk crossed my face as I let my bloodlust loose. Sekka, and the slaves were the only ones that weren't targeted by my wrath. Bloodlust was a skill that didn't require mana.
An ordinary human could use bloodlust. The potency of bloodlust that a human could put out probably wasn't nearly as strong as what I was giving off now, but it stopped any of the elves from looking at me or punishing their slaves from doing so. It probably wasn't a good idea for me to keep this up all the time. I pulled in my bloodlust as we approached the city. It was rare for merchants to travel with just one escort.
Even rarer for them to travel with one slave. I was an escort, and a slave. That made me a rarity among rarities. I knew we'd be stopped at the gate because of me again. I kept my eyes on the guards feet, but I wasn't watching them with my eyes in the first place.
This gate was different then the last one. This was the first large city we'd come to so far. I felt the barrier when I walked through it. It was a lot more powerful then the last one we'd walked through. That one only blocked spatial portals.
This one dampened all magic use. I didn't know who created this barrier, but it was more then likely created by a domination level caster. The power of the barrier suggested more then likely they had multiple domination level castors put the barrier up. That worried me. If there were really multiple domination level casters then I might have a little trouble in the long run if I kept picking fights.
