Chereads / The Archaic Dragon Mage / Chapter 496 - 12

Chapter 496 - 12

"I remember you," his smile stretching impossibly wide, "You should really watch those matchstick flames of yours. Flames that weak will never be able to touch me."

The guy that had thrown them had the same military cut that the others did. He was military. His uniform suggested a fresh graduate. He looked angered by what Wyatt had said. He gathered an even larger ball of fire, and launched it at us.

Again the flames were snuffed out before they could get anywhere near us.

"Too weak," Wyatt snorted.

Wyatt launched a massive ball of fire half the size of a building at the guy that had been slinging flames at him. I understood the brief moment of terror I saw on the kids face before the flames covered him entirely. A upward slash motion split the massive ball of fire, and the two halves of the flames burned past, and around the guy without touching him. The flames vanished before they could burn a hole through the perimeter wall. Wyatt raised a brow, and smirked at the guy that had dared to thrown flames at him.

The guy managed to stay standing so I had to give him credit for that, but it was pretty clear he'd lost the will to fight.

"If the military leaders don't come to me then I will come to them," He turned his attention back to the man that had thrown the spear, "I'll let them choose."

Wyatt turned on his heel, and walked right past me. He gestured for me to follow with one hand while raising his hand to open a portal with the other. His barrier blocked a dozen more attacks as we walked. The bullets that struck the barrier seemed to be stopped by the barrier, and slowly drug through before they fell on the ground. Rendered completely harmless by the barrier.

His barrier was no joke. I'd be more impressed if I hadn't seen one like it before. It was a pretty common skill among the elves. The high elves could produce barriers so thick with mana that they were visible even to the naked human eye. The main problem I had with Wyatt's plan was Wyatt's temperament.

He wanted to pretend to be a completely subdued slave. I didn't know if he was capable of being completely subdued. We walked through the portal safely. The people behind us weren't able to hinder us in the slightest. The portal slammed closed as soon as we were through.

Wyatt didn't bother looking around. It was almost as if he knew where everything was without needing to look. He could manage a descent blank expression so maybe this whole plan of his would work. There really wasn't a good way for me to know. It would take a good amount of time, and practice to find out if this plan of his was even possible.

I tensed nervously when I realized that Ethan was approaching with an angry look. Wyatt intercepted Ethan before he could get to me.

"Its good to see that you're awake," Wyatt glanced back at me.

"Why the fuck is he still alive?" Ethan snarled.

His pupils were more catlike now, but other then that he appeared to be a normal human. It looked like he might have died his hair as well. His aura had completely changed though. He definitely wasn't a normal human being anymore.

"He's an elf isn't he?" Ethan tried to push past Wyatt.

"He's a half elf," he corrected, "I don't believe that he's an enemy."

Ethan snarled at me again. He felt dangerous. He was clearly very angry. He was in some sort of rage.

"That's enough," Wyatt snarled as his own body expanded so that he towered over him, "I don't have time to deal with your little temper tantrum at the moment. Calm down, and we can discuss this later."

Ethan's teeth sharpened as he snarled at me, but he didn't try to push past Wyatt. Wyatt shrank back down to look human again, and patted both of Ethan's shoulders at the same time.

"I promise I will explain what happened to you later," he frowned at Ethan, "But right now I can't let you just rage at Sekka. You would kill him the second you got ahold of him."

I held my hands up, and stepped back a few paces. Giving them space to talk without me listening in. I kept my hands up the whole time as I backed off. I could tell they were talking but I couldn't really hear what they were saying. It took a good amount of time for Wyatt to properly calm Ethan.

Ethan refused to leave Wyatt's side no matter how many reassurances Wyatt offered. He growled at me again when he was brought close.

"That's enough of that," Wyatt gripped Ethan's shoulder tightly.

Ethan growled at me again when they approached me again. He didn't seem to notice that he wasn't acting entirely human. He had the buzz of a newly awakened core coming off of him. It wasn't an element I knew. That meant if was probably a unique element.

Unique elements were variants or combinations of the original ten natural, and unnatural elements. These unique elements were usually specific to individuals or families, and difficult to strengthen or train. I refrained from saying anything about it. It wasn't my place. I was a hundred percent certain that Wyatt was the only reason I was still alive right now.

"I'll leave you to do what you want for now," he nodded to me, "I need to spend some time explaining what happened to Ethan."

"I'm at your mercy so you really don't need to explain yourself to me," I bowed more out of habit then anything else.

I really didn't know how to feel about this situation. I was a prisoner but I had more freedom somehow. Attacking was stupid. I was surrounded by enemies. I'd be dead in less than an hour.
