I carved the runes into a stone I summoned from the ground. I even put a basic description of the capabilities of each rune in the stone below. I wanted Bryce to analyze, and make some basic constructs out of the runes. That way we could have an idea of what they can do. It might be beneficial for me to put all the runes within my knowledge on paper for Bryce to study.
-Does the knowledge the system granted me show where I can find more information on runes?- I asked Vixen.
She was in my mind so there was a good possibility that she could hear my thoughts if I allowed her too.
-Dwarves are the best place to find more runic knowledge according to the system- Vixen responded.
I guess I need to find some dwarves. I gave the three runes to Bryce, and told him to experiment with them. I was just waiting for Sekka to make his choice. I flicked my tail as I lounged at the base of the hollow mountain. I'd awakened the whole camp in my rush to create a structure capable of housing both dragons, and the refugees I planned to take in.
I flared my wings slightly. Only the outer ring of tents remained completely unscathed. The humans weren't the only ones angered by the sudden disturbance. Many of the creatures sheltered by the unicorn were disturbed by my sudden unleashing of power. The entire clearing had been consumed by the base of the hollow mountain.
This place wasn't a stronghold, and I never planned for it to act as one. It was simply a large scale living quarters. Maybe it would work as something else as well later on, but for now it was simply somewhere to keep the rain off our backs, and the wind from chilling us as we rested. It lacked most of what humans deemed necessary nowadays, but that could be fixed with enough time, and manpower. Both of which I kind of lacked at the moment.
I wanted to meet up with the military leaders in five days time. I wasn't sure that Magnus had passed along the message. I guess the best way to be sure would be to give them the message myself. It had been three hours since I raised up the hollow mountain. Half of my mana had already recovered, and there was something weird about my reserve.
The actual size of my reserve was increasing by one every six hours. That was without me doing a single thing. I had a feeling that this little trend would continue as long as I was still on the planet. My tail flicked casually as I wondered what would happen in the near future. I had work to do, and I couldn't really start it for real until I had a non aggression pact with the military.
Even if I could take out a couple hundred thousand humans on my own I would eventually succumb to exhaustion, and be beaten. Once I fell then everyone that stood with me would fall as well. I'd end up acting as the first domino in a long line.
"Thinking of the future again," Letty's voice startled me again.
It was almost as if the little bastard didn't exist until he opened his mouth. It was completely, and totally unnerving.
"Don't forget that I've offered you as much aid as you need," he continued as if I'd acknowledged his presence, "If all you want is some protection for your people in your absence then I can do that easily. Do you claim this entire landmass as your territory? I could easily put up a barrier around your entire domain. Seal all your enemies out."
"You have one hell of a lot of confidence," I switched to my human form, "What makes you think you could stop the entirety of the human race?"
"I destroyed an entire country on a whim once," he smiled at me, "They really shouldn't have tampered with my storehouse. I still don't understand what kind of weaklings thought they could use some of my forbidden spells anyway. They probably would have killed themselves trying to use the spell anyway."
The casual way he said it caught me off guard.
"You wiped out a country?" My lips curled up slightly.
"Yes," he confirmed with a casual nod, "I picked up the ground they stood on, and flipped it upside down. Then I proceeded to drop it on the heads of those that survived."
"I find that difficult to believe," I looked at him skeptically.
"What?" he shrugged, "You think that I can't manipulate earth because I don't posses an earth affinity. Its entirely possible to manipulate an element you don't have an affinity with if you just put enough power into it." he smiled at me, "Perhaps a demonstration would be a better way to show you what I mean."
The ground shook as a massive amount of mana descended on us. No it didn't descend. It came from Letty himself. All of the ground around us raised up so it was twenty feet over my head. He'd picked up enough land with his mana that Gaia's previous feat of collapsing the spider's tunnels looked like child's play.
"Throw enough mana at it, and you can do just about anything you want," Letty smiled.
"Why do you look so different from when I first saw you?" I looked at him angrily.
Letty set the land back down far more gently than when he picked it up.
"Several humans volunteered their blood to me in exchange for some proper healing," His smirk dropped, "Once I drank enough my own natural cycle of mana regeneration restarted."
"You're insane," I stepped away from him.
"You're only just now noticing that," he laughed at me.
I wasn't the only one who was looking at him as if he'd grown a second head. The entire camp was tired of all the disruptions to their sleep. The fact that Letty could just casually pick up enough ground that I could barely see the edge of it was insane. Not only that, but he'd stopped the ocean from flowing into the crater he'd created with his casual lifting of what felt like half of the forbidden zone.
