Chereads / The Archaic Dragon Mage / Chapter 469 - 14

Chapter 469 - 14

"We're only here to protect our master," a woman yelled out.

"Do I look like I care?" I snapped at her, "We're going to be in the middle of a battle soon. We're probably going to be outnumbered, and outgunned again. If you aren't going to take it seriously then leave right fucking now." I pulled my pant leg up to my knee so they could see the still angry looking pick flesh from where half my lower leg had been ripped away, "You see this. This was one attack. One attack that fucking missed. A fucking miss. You have no idea how much power is out there. And how much we're going to need the dragons to survive it." I eyed someone who looked like they were going to speak up with such fury that he was shoved back a few feet, "Once you see that power you'll never be able to forget it again. That's when you might understand just how terrified you should be right now."

I let my anger subside back beneath the surface, and wiped the blood off my face. My nose was bleeding pretty badly now that I'd pushed myself just a little too far.

{Ethan,} Wyatt's voice slammed into my head like a hammer along with dozens of images of an army of men headed our way.

A wave of power went out. Forcing many of the people to grab hold of something not to be blown away. Yet the power washed over me harmlessly. Trees were uprooted, and thrown clear so that every inch within two miles was leveled. The forest fell silent.

I knew why as I rubbed my head with a pained look on my face. We would see them coming.

"Savannah!" I shouted as I turned my back on the great mages group, "Time's up. The enemy is here."

Aurora was the first one to respond to my shout. Roaring into the sky to let the entire camp know for sure that this was the beginning of the fight.

"If you're against us," I looked back over my shoulder to the group, "Then now's the time to flee."

The silence ended then as what seemed like every beast in the forest roared out. They all knew a fight was coming. The unicorn seemed to appear on the cliff that Wyatt rested against. Overlooking the battlefield. She'd agreed to help defend, but would not participate in the actual fighting since the vast majority of it would be a battle between humans.

Her forest beasts were more then willing to kill a few as they made their way through the forest. They just weren't willing to risk their lives to do it. I rubbed my head. I needed time to recover. My muscles were tense it would be difficult for me to take the time needed to recover.

Savannah directed me over to Wyatt. Her look told me to sit down, and rest. I knew they would need me when the real fighting started. My ability was useful when it came to taking people out stealthily. It didn't take much for me to kill someone if their body wasn't reinforced.

All I had to do was grip their head with my telekinesis, and yank it around. Breaking their neck with relative ease from a distance. Assassination type combat was one of the things I'd been taught first. I grimaced at the thought. I didn't like using skills that were unique to my family.

It felt as if my success was due to their training. I hated giving them that kind of power. They didn't deserve credit for anything I was doing. I sat down next to Wyatt's head, and tried to relax as I returned to recover position. Some training couldn't be ignored.

No matter how hard I tried. I'd need at least two hours this time since I overstressed myself.

I couldn't help but be excited for my first true battle against intelligent creatures. I knew that it was in my nature to be somewhat violent, but that wasn't a negative at the moment. I growled to myself as I bounded over a few of the walls. Stopping close to the outer wall. I'd insisted on launching the first attack when the enemy came.

It would be a few hours off hopefully since the enemy had to cross through the forest. Gaia was preventing the use of the spatial element at the moment. We weren't sure if she was wasting mana or not yet, but the precaution was necessary. If even a single educated spatial elementalist was among them then they could cut right to us without much difficultly. The only regrettable thing about that was the fact that we lost her military strength.

She wasn't dominant over space so she couldn't just seal space by being there. She had to actively take control of all the space around her. The fact that she was able to seal off nearly two miles of space was impressive, but it took all of her concentration to do so. Goliath joined me at the front line less then a minute later. Aaron, his mother, Bryce, and Copper would all stay near Wyatt.

Far from the front since none of them were fighters yet. Goliath had been trying to train Bryce since he was of age, but he spent a lot of his time forging, and that was necessary as well. Otherwise Goliath would have stopped him, and forced him to take his training seriously. My eyes snapped back up, and my vision changed so I could see the heat of the enemies in the forest. They were still out of my range of sight.

That was good. I stilled completely. My focus completely on the coming enemy. Goliath was keeping an eye on my surroundings. I didn't need to shift or divide my focus in any way.

I felt him walk up my spine to his notch, and stand there while I was completely still.

The darkness was closing in. I was incredibly frustrated.
