Chereads / The Archaic Dragon Mage / Chapter 464 - 9

Chapter 464 - 9

Turning her head to look down on the unicorn.

"These humans wish to approach the king," she pointed at me with her horn, "That one wishes to speak with him."

"Interesting," the dragon turned her silver eyes on me, "You wish to speak with Wyatt." She cocked her head, "He cannot speak right now. Yet I see no harm in bringing them closer." she turned her eyes back to the unicorn, "Goliath wishes to speak with this one."

She nodded toward me.

"What of their weapons?" the unicorn asked.

"What could they possible do with such weak weapons?" she smirked, "It will be faster if you let them bring the shuttles."

"Those machines have weapons as well," she seemed slightly alarmed by the dragons complete lack of concern.

"Highly inaccurate cannons meant to deter space debris," she smirked, "They won't be able to kill me with such worthless weapons. Let alone you or your trusted. Let them come."

She didn't fear us at all.

"Go back inside, and follow," she flared her wings with a surprising amount of grace, "Allow them to follow."

She was looking at me, but she wasn't speaking to me. I moved back to the shelter of the shuttle.

"Follow the dragon," I ordered the pilot.

He looked at me as if I was out of my mind.

"Just do it," I ordered.

I was far too interested in what was going to happen next. The snow cleared around us. Just around us. The dragon hovered in the air, and waited for us. She looked amused as she waited for us.

The complete opposite of all the other beasts. She flew along at a deliberately slow pace. Waiting for us to catch up with her multiple times. It took nearly an hour for us to reach the camp. She circled us once before landing on the outer edges of the encampment.

Then she waited for us to join her in the clearing. Her tail patted the clear space around her as if she was inviting us. Leaving plenty of room for us to land. The playful way she invited us down was interesting. The careful way the shuttle rotated before landing was smart.

I would hate to anger a creature that had invited us down here with such a friendly demeanor.

That woman interested me. I wished to speak with her more, and on friendlier terms anyway. There was no way to do that while her people were tucked away in the shuttle in a hostile environment. I tried to keep myself calm. Even playful.

I waited for a few minutes as her people disembarked. Watching them with amusement. The humans all looked at me with fear or concern. I didn't sense any danger or hostility from most of them. I snorted when a few of them showed me hostility.

This made many of them flinch.

{Goliath,} I called to him mentally, {These ones wish to speak. I think they will be more comfortable conversing with another human.}

The woman that was in charge seemed to notice me communicating with Goliath. Her sensitivity to mana had to be very good to sense a dragon speaking with their bonded.

"Relax," I withdrew my teeth as I smirked, "You'd be dead if I hadn't invited you here. The unicorn will escort you out when your done speaking with us. We have a battle to prepare for, and little time to deal with a few arrogant humans."

This comment seemed to surprise the woman in charge.

"We have food to spare," I glanced over to Goliath, "You'll have to cook for yourself, but we have no problem providing the meat."

"I'm glad you're at least trying to be friendly with our guests," Goliath patted my shoulder.

His familiarity with me seemed to calm some of the humans there.

"Where's Aaron?" I nuzzled him gently as I asked.

"His mother is having him work on a math lesson while he rests his legs," he didn't hesitate to answer.

"A few of the beasts were wounded along the wall when a few humans tried to use force to come into the forest," I smirked, "It would be good practice for him to heal them. Spirits are far more difficult to heal then flesh, and blood creatures."

Goliath patted me again. A slight warning coming through the bond. Speaking of humans getting killed was apparently a subject that Goliath didn't want me speaking of right now.

"I'll go play with the hatchling," I snorted, "I wish to speak to that one in more detail when she's alone."

I didn't need to point or gesture. He knew exactly who I was talking about.

"She's a bit dangerous to take an interest in," Goliath chuckled.

"There aren't many humans that interest me Goliath," I stretched my back slowly, "Wyatt insists that we learn as much about them as we can."

This conversation seemed to scare the humans behind her. They weren't sure who I wanted to single out. I jumped over the wall behind me with ease. Heading deeper into the camp before moving over to the other side of the camp. I didn't like being too close to Wyatt while he was evolving.

My wings twitched as I waited. The hatchling rushed over to me. Looking for a bit of fun.

"Coming to bother me again Copper?" I smiled at the name Bryce had given him.

I didn't know if the name suited the grey hatchling, but Bryce seemed convinced that the name was perfect for him. Copper played with the earth around my tail. Making my tail sink in so he could trap me in place. I found it amusing, and allowed him to do it. He then attacked me with weak flames.

The flames weren't even enough to leave a mark on my white scales, but I played along. I remembered how it felt the first time I used magic. How exciting it was to succeed when using magic? I fell over feigning death for just long enough to worry him. He started jumping on my head to see if I was alright.
