The mana continued to eat away at the wyvern for another ten minutes. I was thoroughly winded after that. I'd used half of my mana in that short fight. The physical strain wasn't a joke either. The wyverns were strong enough to match me physically.
{Collect the cores,} I spoke to both of my bonded, {We'll tell the guild members we found a few wyverns in the east. We'll keep nudging them north until we get them looking the right direction.}
I settled in a sitting position while on high alert. I flicked my tail casually. My mind was still sharp. I could handle another fight so I wasn't in any serious danger. It was my job to watch out for the others while I was waiting for them to finish cleaning up the cores.
Ethan's dragon scale blades could cut through the wyvern hide easily. Savannah practiced with her new darkness affinity. Eating through the wyvern hide instead of trying to cut through it with her subpar blade.
"Why didn't you bring your staff?" I glanced over to Savannah, "It enhances your magic doesn't it?"
"A sword is easier to transport," She shrugged as she kept working at the corpse.
"You could have asked me to carry it for you," I flicked my tail casually.
"And tie up one of your limbs for a staff I'm not all that proficient in using," she shook her head.
"You do know that the staff will be easier to use now that you're one of my blooded," I chuckled.
Even though neither one of us looked at each other. We both knew how our expressions changed based on our emotional ups, and downs. Never mind the fact that we could both feel our general physical states. I stretched slowly when they were done collecting cores. Smashing the makeshift fence open as I took to the sky.
There was no reason for me to leave these beasts here to die. They weren't strong enough for me to really waste my time killing. The wyverns were more then enough XP for me today. Around two hundred thousand XP a piece meant they were the perfect level grinding creatures for me right now. I needed more then a million XP per level now.
I'd make it to level thirty in just a couple more fights. That was exactly the kind of good luck I needed. I memorized the farm right quick before creating a portal to the south. It didn't take me long to get to the front line. Savannah, and Ethan had both been smart enough to grab some netted bags for the oversized cores.
They'd thrown the cores into the netted bags, and strapped them to my spines. Ethan grabbed both bags, and jumped down. Choosing not to hand off these cores like we did last time. My wings folded in slowly. I pulled them in completely.
I flicked my tail casually. Ethan, and Savannah headed off to sell the cores back to Eric.
{Let him have one of them free,} I snorted, {Don't want to appear ungrateful.}
{You're being too generous,} Savannah snapped.
{We want him to think we're still under his thumb for now,} I flicked my tail, {Letting him have a discount after giving him three cores free of charge is generous. Plays on my obvious attempts to make a good impression.}
{I think you should make him pay double,} Ethan joked.
{This guild probably won't exist in a year,} I smirked, {So I'll be making him pay with everything he has. A little generosity right before the end just makes it hurt that much more.}
Savannah mentally rolled her eyes, but said no more on the subject. Money wasn't going to be a problem in the future so I preferred not to worry about it now. I could hunt for myself so we didn't need to buy me food. Feeding three humans wasn't that expensive when you considered that I just made a million credits just selling a few vials of venom. Once the antivenom was confirmed effective I'd make even more selling that then I did selling the venom itself.
My wings twitched at the thought. Cores weren't going to be our main source of income. I huffed as I laid down. After all that flying, and fighting I was legitimately tired this time round. There were only a few hours of daylight left.
I wondered if I could bet on going to my inner world this time instead of blissful unawareness. I could remain completely aware of my surroundings while I was in my inner world while still sleeping semi properly. Regala had told me that going to the inner world wasn't the same as actual sleep, but my mind could take the strain of remaining in there every night for months. I wasn't willing to drop my guard around these people. My wings drooped lazily.
My body tensed as I brought my wings back up. Jax walked up to me, and stepped on my arm. It was the boldest thing he'd done as one of my bonded. I didn't know if I should be impressed or enraged.
"I want to try a few wide range spells out," Jax explained a little too loudly, "Could you take me out far enough that I won't have to worry about destroying the camp?"
He was giving me an excuse to leave the camp. Impressed it was. I raised him up so he could slide into Ethan's notch at the front. My wings flaring as soon as he was halfway settled. A single wingbeat, and I was clear of the camp.
I had to push myself up through the air a ways before I found a good air current. I turned my head, and looked right at the drone. Lightning sparked from between my teeth as I thought about blasting the drone. I didn't need to hit it to tell him I didn't want to be followed. I remembered the hidden drone that had probably been following most of the time I'd been here before banking sharply as I shot concentrated lightning at the drone.
