Chapter 398 - 22.3

Ethan just shrugged, and nodded.

"He can go back to his true form if that's easier for you people," Ethan's dry serious tone said all that needed to be said.

The tech guy was the only one that didn't seem to understand that I was the dragon. I stretched slowly as I stared at the men in front of me. No one seemed to want me to switch back to my dragon form.

"Raul right?" I extended my hand when I stepped up to look at the man in front of me.

I was right next to the skinny tech guy now, but I was ignoring him. Raul didn't extend his hand out to shake mine. He did loosen his grip on the destroyed weapon. My lips upturned slightly as I let my hand drop.

"My name is Wyatt Nix," I dropped the smirk, "Your boss called me over to your guild to help with your wyvern problem."

Raul's face screwed up a little. He didn't really like the way I said that, but the I'm on your side friendly demeanor I'd shown them since taking my human form had caused them all to relax. He sighed, and tossed his broken weapon. A thought occurred to me. One that made Ethan catch the tossed half of the weapon with his telekinesis, and bring both halves to me.

I took both halves, and pressed them together as my mana flowed into the weapon. I was glad that weapons like this accepted any kind of mana without much strain on the material. I guess that was one of the advantages of the weapon not having flesh, and bone to poison. My mana hit the break in the weapon from both sides, and started flowing through the break lethargically. I pushed more mana into the weapon.

Causing a visible change in the material as it took on a blue hue instead of remaining steel gray. The blade lengthened noticeably. Looking more like an icicle then a typical spearhead. I cut off the flow of mana when the weapon greedily began taking in my mana. Chilling the surrounding several degrees for each second that I allowed my mana to flow.

I let go with one hand, and spun the weapon experimentally to see if I was correct about it being whole again. Tossing it back to Raul when I was finished.

"Point it at my friend again," I smiled overly friendly this time, "And I'll bite your head off."

Raul swallowed, and looked at the skinny tech guy.

"So how much respect did Erik say we should give this, guy," the slight pause before he said guy told me he'd had a different word in mind but wasn't stupid enough to say it.

I remained friendly as I watched this interaction.

"He told me that we should treat them like hired muscle," tech guy looked me up then down again, "And that we shouldn't push our luck with the dragon. He's got a bad temper."

"Sound advice," Ethan chimed in, "If you give me a communication device I can keep you informed of Wyatt's movements. We usually travel together so I should be able to give you a good idea of where he is, and where he plans to go."

Tech guy looked at me, and I just shrugged. Ethan wasn't lying. We were usually together.

"This should do the trick," a rack slid out of tech guy's radio backpack without any button pushing.

He passed me a radio.

"You're a technopath," I took the radio before passing it off to Ethan without needing to look at him.

"Yes," he watched the radio go to Ethan in an obvious attempt not to look me in the eye, "There are four technopaths registered with this guild. I'm one of the weaker ones so I'm assigned to set up communications in the outer exploratory bases."

He wasn't trying to give information away. He was just too nervous to stop talking.

"I like you," I smiled before turning my eyes to Raul, "I haven't decided if I like you or not yet."

Ethan warmed visibly to the tech guy. Swinging his arm to pat the guy on the back. I caught his hand before it made contact with the guy.

"Don't forget to control your strength," I warned Ethan.

I let go of his hand, and walked back toward the open space where I'd touched down to scan the crowd slowly. There were a strong bunch. Their average strength was much higher then the average strength of Calen's entire guild. They were much better equipped then Calen's guild as well.

This planet had to have stronger more valuable beasts if you didn't include the lizardmen.

"Do you guys want to discuss anything while we're here?" I turned my attention back to Raul.

Raul was still experimentally swinging his repaired weapon. He stopped when he realized I was talking to him. Ethan was listening to skinny tech guy talk, but his attention went to me the moment he heard my voice.

"I'll need a day to adjust the battle plan," Raul stated bluntly, "It'll take me about a day to look over all the plans, and coordinate with the others to figure out where you'll do the most damage."

"Go back to the guild, and stay out of your way until then," I turned so my whole body was facing the man, glancing over to Ethan, "Should we take the short cut or do you want to fly some more?"

"Flying is better," Ethan smiled.

I turned slowly making sure I had enough space right quick before switching forms suddenly. I extended my wing so Ethan could grab on before lifting him up to set him on my back. The calm way I did it had most of the people there gawking. I spread my wings slowly. Turning in a circle as I did.

Forcing the people that were within my wingspan to back away in the process. Ethan settled between my spines ready for flight. I jumped into the air. Buffering the people below me with air as I beat my wings down hard. I preferred to ride the high air currents.
