He punched me in the face. I dodged it while stumbling slightly. My spatial awareness was still working just fine. I focused on that sense. Steadying myself as I dodged another hit.
My vision swam even more as he ramped up his ability slowly. I kept myself steady as I continued to dodge. I was doing a good job of dodging too. The awkward slowness of my movements was the only indicator that I wasn't relying on my vision to move. It was making me feel like my guts were rolling as well.
I'd never vomited before as a dragon. I wasn't even sure I could vomit. I didn't want to find out the hard way. I snarled to myself as I grew irritated with this feeling of my guts rolling. It was hard for me to maintain this human form while my guts were rolling like this.
I wanted to return to my dragon form as quickly as possible, but these idiots were in my way. My rolling guts weren't helping any. This irritation I was feeling had me starting the transition back to my true form. I was starting to grow larger, and becoming less coordinated as my draconic features started to mix with the human traits. It wouldn't have been so awkward if I could see straight.
I was relying entirely on my spatial awareness to stay on my feet. He had managed to pick up his blade while I was stumbling around.
"Fuck it," I snarled as I snapped my eyes closed.
It was harder to react to things while relying strictly on spatial awareness. It was easier to balance without the mixed visual feedback. I'd fought blind before, and it was beginning to seem like I would be better off learning how to rely on this extra sense. It would be useful to be able to react to the feedback I got from spatial awareness in more then one way. Right now I could only dodge.
Any attacks I launched would miss. Simply because I couldn't react to his movement as he dodged. I couldn't track his movement with my eyes. I'd grown overly reliant on my sense of sight. My slow switch from human form to dragon form hadn't progressed very far yet.
My wings, and tail had only just begun to sprout. I was still wearing my mana clothing so the humans around could only see me getting larger, and that I had scales on my exposed skin. I dodged another attack. Choosing to counter with a wide kicked aimed for his midsection. My kicked barely grazed him, but the force of it was enough to throw him back.
The man I'd thrown, and the one he'd hit had both recovered enough to get back to their feet. They seemed to be wary of approaching me.
"What the hell are you idiots doing?" Erik yelled at his subordinates, "Why the fuck are you attacking my men?"
I tried to look at him, but I'd made the mistake of opening my eyes. I stumbled again nearly falling to my knees in the process.
"Your guys didn't let me go out," my hands went to my knees, "Then they accused me of using an ability, and wouldn't listen to anything I had to say after that."
"Well I don't blame them," Erik wasn't pretending to be nice anymore, "It's not often they have to deal with a human shaped beast like you."
"Can he turn his ability off?" I was barely staying on my feet, but I managed to point his general direction.
Ethan was on the move now. Erik would have to deal with his anger as well soon if he didn't back his guys off. I didn't like his attitude, but it would be surprising if he didn't have one after I hurt his guys. Ethan was suddenly there. Well to them it was sudden.
Ethan had tapped into my speed. He already had his hand wrapped around the throat of the man who was using his ability on me. Holding him up in the air with a single hand. The sudden clearing of my vision was almost as disorienting as having my vision scattered had been. I shook off the feeling, and looked over to Ethan.
The mark on his neck glowed blue, and his eyes were closed. He'd decided to rely on his other senses instead of trying to fight the guy's ability. He was better at this kind of thing then I was. It had been a required part of his training.
"That's enough Ethan," I spoke aloud for the benefit of the surrounding humans.
Ethan dropped him. The guy crumpled to the ground gasping for air. Now Erik was really pissed. I didn't care. I strode over to Ethan, and grabbed his shoulder reassuringly.
"You should have taken the time to inform your men before I arrived," I snarled at Erik as I strode his direction, "They wouldn't have attacked me if you'd taken the time to let them know an ally like me was coming."
"I don't care how irritated or short tempered you claim to be," Erik snapped as gravity slammed down on me, "I won't have you harming my people."
The amount of gravity he slammed down on me was minimal at best. If I had to guess he was trying to slow me down, but my stride hardly faltered.
"You were the one that invited me," I took my half dragon form.
Boosting my height to a brisk eight feet, and altering my entire bone structure in a split second. I was relieved to have my wings, and tail back.
"And you are the one that didn't bother to tell your people what kind of monster you called here to help you," I snorted, "I just wanted to go outside. Not have an unscheduled brawl. I have no interest in fighting humans or any other species from earth for that matter, but I will not be walked all over by a few stupid people who didn't listen when I told them to ask their guild leader who I am, and why I am here."
My words carried. I wasn't trying to be loud, but I didn't see any point in being quiet either.
"You wanted cheap labor," I pointed at him as my tail lashed back and forth, "That's why you called me here instead of going to the military. You've made that very clear."
