Chereads / The Archaic Dragon Mage / Chapter 385 - 18.2

Chapter 385 - 18.2

He just stared at me.

"Not willing to talk to me," I flicked my tail within the warehouse quickly.

Hitting the button so that the doors would close before whipping my tail out from under the doors as they closed. I snorted angrily. I waited for him to speak for a while. I wasn't going to begin this conversation. I just cocked my head, and waited.

He just stared at me across the street. Refusing to say or do anything. I ramped up my mana. Circulating the mana at a high speed so that I emitted more pressure without wasting any mana. It put a strain on my body so I wouldn't be able to do it for very long.

Vincent actually went a few shades paler. As a magic user himself he would be more sensitive to mana. I'd bet on him being more sensitive, and that the normal folks wouldn't be affected nearly as much. My wings pulled in close to my body as I tried not to twitch. It was hard to be eerily still on purpose.

I didn't know if he'd just come there to observe me or not. I was curious if he was just there to observe me or if he wanted to try, and pull Jax away again. His mana was gathered, and ready to use, but he didn't try anything. He wasn't stupid enough to pull anything on me when I was prepared for it. Not after my show on the first day we'd met.

My strength now was a far cry from what they had experience with. I wasn't the animal they knew anymore. I was calmer, stronger, and bigger. I had to stop myself from fidgeting. Fighting the urge to fidget so I could maintain that eerie still.

I wasn't even breathing at the moment. It would take nearly an hour for my large lungs to run out of air. If I didn't need the air then I wasn't going to break the effect. I exhaled incredibly slowly as we continued this staring contest. My eyes were just now starting to feel dry.

I'd kept them wide open this entire time. I noticed when my bonded started to wake. Ethan was first even though he was the last one to go to sleep. Jax was second. He'd gone to sleep first so that made sense.

Ethen came outside quickly. I was pretty sure he'd just thrown his clothes, and armor on before rushing out to join me. Ethan glared at Vincent. I smirked at the man. I was a little hurt that I'd broken the eerie stillness I'd been working to maintain, but that didn't really matter to me.

My eyes went to Jax when he came out. My smirk vanishing. This was something that I wasn't sure about just yet. Jax saw Vincent. Anger surged through our bond as a scowl twisted his face.

"I told you that I didn't want to talk to you until you tell me who my real family is," Jax snapped.

Vincent looked pissed. Jax had strode toward the man while he was talking. He was a little over halfway across the street when he stopped. Vincent was closing that distance now with a terrifying amount of rage on his face. Jax had never seen this side of him on display like this ever before.

Jax stumbled back, and I was suddenly over him. My teeth only a few scarce inches from Vincent's face. My neck was long enough that I didn't have to move my body to keep pushing the man back. Extending my neck slowly as he backed away from the finger long fangs that filled my mouth. I didn't need to make a single sound to terrify with how much of a size, and power advantage I had over the man.

Yet my chest still rumbled with a silent growl. Making the pavement beneath my feet vibrate as if someone were playing a very large base. The rocks nearby skittered away from my feet slowly. I still couldn't kill him because Jax needed some answers from the man. That just pissed me off even more as my growl slowly became audible.

I wanted to kill him. I really did. It would be much easier if he was dead. The man reached the edge of the range my neck offered. I picked up Jax, and backed away slowly.

Setting him down on his feet while I continued growling. Ethan patted my shoulder as he steadied the frightened Jax with his other hand. He knew that I needed to calm down. I settled slowly. My lips slowly slid back down over my teeth.

I didn't stop growling though. It was Vincent's turn to look afraid. I let my growl quiet until it was gone.

"Let's go," I huffed a bunch of sparks.

Ethan grabbed Jax, and jumped up onto my back with him. Ethan let go of Jax so he could get into his notch. I let Savannah step on my tail, and lifted her up onto my back. Her balance was impressive. Keeping my tail that steady was easy when I was this tense.

"Don't threaten my allies," I snarled at Vincent.

Vincent didn't try to stop me from leaving. He wasn't strong enough to stop or kill me so he was just doing the smart thing at this point. Trying not to piss me off any further. I slammed my tail into the pavement as I passed the man. Leaving a big gouge in the pavement.

Making sure it was too close for his comfort. I smirked as I walked out of the guild. Glad that I'd put the fear of god into the man. I wanted to kill him. I really did.

I took to the air as soon as I cleared the gate. Buffering the men at the top with air as I left. They'd braced themselves as soon as they saw me spreading my wings. They were familiar enough with the amount of air I disturbed to know that they might get knocked off their feet when the air hit them. I circled the guild once before flying away from the guild.
