The beasts were heavily armored. I couldn't kill them with brute force alone. I wasn't strong enough to. Plus the lizards wouldn't take it very well if I did. I was kind of curious if this trend held with other species.
It really was too bad humans didn't value their own origin species. That would make things a lot easier for me. No point in whining about it now. I found a spot that was clear of any lizardmen. There were a large number of weaker beasts there as well.
I bathed them all in fire a moment later. Instantly cooking all the beasts in the spot. I wondered if I could create one of those storage spaces yet. Something like that had to be possible. I might have heard of something like that before.
I dropped down to the ground slowly. I could try to create one myself, but I didn't think that was something I should do without talking to Regala or Gaia first. I was pretty sure that they had done this before. They would know how to create a stable spatial storage. I picked up some of the creatures I'd baked, and fished through their remains for their cores.
Picking them out casually before taking the bodies to the nearest lizardman settlement. Dropping them off as a gift. The lizards were skeptical of the free meal, but food was food. I flew back to the guild after I was done only to find that the whole thing only took me about six hours. The settlement had woken up.
They were surprised to see me gliding down next to the settlement. I decided to stay outside of the settlement for a while, and hoped that Jax would make some sort of decision today. Either way it didn't really matter to me anymore. We were leaving in the morning no matter what happened tonight. It was obvious that the earth great wasn't a threat to this guild.
The military couldn't lose such a productive settlement. Not now that the guild was selling so many crystals at a low price. It would hurt them more then it would help them right now. I had a decent reputation here. Very few of the people in the guild liked me, but I'd helped them, and that earned me their unwillingness to help attack me.
He would need all of them to take me down, and they simply weren't willing. That meant he'd need to call others here. That was expensive. A cheap army would only lead to a lot of capable fighters dying. An expensive army could make even the richest man poor.
I spent the rest of the day adding to the map on the floor. When Savannah, and Jax came back it was obvious that Jax still hadn't come to a proper decision. The weight of his emotions told me that he now knew what I'd known when I met the man claiming to be his grandfather. They weren't grandfather, and grandson. I sighed heavily as I looked at him.
"We're heading back to the outpost in the morning," I drew their attention by speaking, "I don't think that man will cause any trouble while he's here. He'll need to gather an army before he can even think of attacking me. I have a good enough reputation here that he won't be able to convince anyone here to attack me."
"We have five or six weeks before he can organize anything resembling an attack," Savannah confirmed with a nod, "And his name is Vincent."
Jax just nodded numbly in agreement.
"I don't care what his name is," I growled, "As far as I'm concerned he's nothing but trouble."
I was done with this planet. I had no real reason to come here except to sure up my alliance with the guild. It would use nearly all my mana to go back to earth, but the chances of someone figuring out that I was on earth were slim at best. Especially since I was currently on this planet. They wouldn't think it was possible for me to make it back to earth without some sort of transport.
The spatial element wasn't easy to use, but the long distance portals were incredibly draining. It would be difficult for me to create more then one portal that distance in a day. My wings extended slightly as I stretched my stiff limbs. I started working on the exercise again. I could do that in one element without giving myself a headache as long as I stopped at fifteen planets.
It didn't advance my elements as fast, but I'd done a number on my head yesterday so it was better for me not to go to crazy right now. I needed to have a clear head when I created the portal tomorrow. Turning my mind to mush right now wasn't a good idea since I'd have to clearly picture the destination, and control all the power required to open the portal at the same time. I sighed as I thought about all the work ahead of me again. Advancing my affinities to fusion level was priority.
This was the fastest I'd advanced my elements. Lightning was stuck at level one of fusion. I hadn't created another lightning crystal since I'd come back to this planet. It cost me too much mana to do anything like that right now when I couldn't just refill my reserve on a whim. Sure I could fall back on the cores I had stored within, but it was a better bet to save those for when I was in a life or death situation.
I debated on going out to sunbathe, but there wasn't much sun left. I ended up scratching away at the map again. Expanding the map, and adding details that I hadn't gotten around to yet. My wings twitched as I focused on what I was changing on the map. I didn't want Regala correcting me again.
