Just thinking about everything they did to him pissed me off. If I ever came face to face with any of his family then I was going to do a lot more then give them a piece of my mind. I slapped the ground with my tail. Leaving a deep cut in the earth. I snarled at the thought.
The sudden random snarl made some of the humans flinch, and woke both Jax, and Savannah. They both looked one hell of a lot better then they did the night before. Ethan winked at Savannah before going over to help Jax get off the ground. My wings twitched as I settled. I could look into Ethan's memories later.
Ethan seemed to agree with me on not telling them about the system. I was glad about that.
Calculations complete. Killer queen quest rewards 1,007,561 XP awarded. Leveling up. New skill bloodlust level one.
Bloodlust? I've seen that skill before. What does it do?
Bloodlust level 1 is the sister skill to murderous intent. Like murderous intent it allows your enemy to sense your intent to kill. Unlike murderous intent the skill will allow your enemy to feel you intent to consume them. The desire to consume your enemy will slowly rise over time. Skill can only target 1 enemy at a time.
So it's a I'm going to kill, and eat you kind of scary. I guess it's a good thing that it isn't a wide ranging skill like advanced murderous intent. I didn't like this part about desire to consume rising over time, but I would take whatever skills I could use. I didn't have enough strength to complain about questionable skills yet. I would take whatever I could get for now.
I'd have to test this rising desire to consume target part later. I wasn't going to be caught off guard by it. That would probably end badly. Rotations were established not long after the sun rose only now we were putting together hunting teams to hunt down the ones that had managed to escape. My team was one of the first rotations.
We had a huge advantage over the others because I could fly, and we used it to its fullest. Goliath, and Aurora left that night. Headed back to earth since Aurora was weakened, and unable to absorb this planets mana. She didn't like leaving, but we didn't give her the option of staying. I used the patrols as an excuse to avoid meeting the priestess as long as possible.
But nothing lasts forever. After three days of not finding a single spider it was time for the patrols to stop. The lizardmen refused to negotiate with any of the humans without me meeting the priestess first so I was forced to trudge with the lizardmen to their priestess, and I wasn't allowed to bring any of my bonded with me. I didn't know what irritated me more. The fact that I had to walk, or that my bonded weren't with me.
Ethan would have been enough to relieve some of the tension I was feeling while surrounded by these damn lizards. I snorted angrily without breaking my stride. There was one good thing about traveling with these lizardmen. They seemed to always move at a jogging pace. Which translated to full on human sprint speed.
It would take a little over a day to get to the priestess's temple at this pace. At least that was what the lead lizardman had said. I wanted to push them even faster since this wasn't anywhere near my top speed, but I didn't think their stamina would allow them to go much faster without stopping more often. Stopping meant getting worshipped by the surrounding lizardmen, and I hated that almost as much as I hated leaving my bonded behind. I didn't do anything special to become the dragon prince.
I doubted I would be a dragon prince at all if there were any other dragon's my age running around. Then again I could be wrong. The only dragon I could compare myself to even in passing was the opposite gender, and much younger then myself. Males, and females could vary greatly in size, maturity, and overall growth. I'd have to wait, and see when another male hatched.
The run was long, and boring. I was just getting annoyed toward the end of it. Glad that was all I had to worry about with my increased stamina. I didn't realize we were getting close to the priestess's temple until we were right on top of it. Many of the lizardmen's homes were dug straight into the ground so it wasn't surprising that I didn't notice them from the air.
I looked up at the large doorway that led down into the earth apprehensively as the lizardman next to me explained that this wasn't the priestess's main temple. This was apparently just a small branch temple, and the priestess had come to this temple just because she wanted to meet me. Then they went on to tell me that I should be grateful that the priestess was willing to go such a long way for me, and that she'd traveled for days just to get here. I just stared at him hoping that it would be enough to make him shut up. I really didn't care who this priestess was, and I still hadn't shaken the bad feeling I got when they talked about her.
They opened the doors for me, and I realized that there was light coming from within the massive tunnel. The doors were made of stone, and there were pillars going down the sides of the dragon sized path. I stared down the path for a few minutes as that bad feeling I had intensified.
*"The priestess waits below for you young prince," the leading lizardman urged me on.
With the way they were insisting I would eventually end up going down there whether I wanted to or not. I started walking slowly. Studying the wisps of light that floated along the pathway. They responded to my passing by moving away as if I were made of something toxic. I hadn't thought they were alive so it was interesting to see.
