I only had to wait about half an hour before Calen came to me. He looked at me like I was in trouble. I kept my wings pulled in tight to my body.
"What was that?" Calen didn't need to elaborate further.
"Lizardmen," I sighed, "They seemed to think that you were keeping me prisoner. I'm just glad they didn't decide to destroy the wall, and come in personally." I looked at Calen sympathetically, "I don't think your people could have stopped them if they did. The damage would have been much worse."
"You honestly think they would have been able to just walk right over us to get to you," he didn't look happy about my evaluation of his peoples abilities.
"The one I attacked was able to hold my full weight in the air," I scoffed, "He even pushed me back from a frontal attack. Even if I am weaker then usual, do you think your people could do anything like that?"
Calen looked like he was seriously considering what I just said. I let him think it over for a little while. I wanted to hopefully use their strength to our advantage.
"We should get their help," I tapped my talons to punctuate what I was saying, "Their strength, and numbers should be incredibly useful against those spiders."
"You really think that anyone on this base will agree to an alliance with Archaics," Calen looked at me skeptically, "Most the people here still hate you for what you are. The only reason you're still alive is because you saved my life, and exposed Vernon. You're on thin ice, and you want to propose an alliance with another race that has attacked us once already."
"This is their home planet," I shifted my weight at that revelation, "I seriously doubt that the forty that scouted you out are all the lizardmen on the planet. The ones that attacked us probably only came from one settlement. I'd imagine there are dozens more. Thousands that have the potential to be just as strong as the ones I've already seen. Unless you plan to leave the planet then I think a friendly relationship could only benefit you." I paused for a moment as I kept thinking it over, "Your settlement would become famous rather quickly if you managed to create even a temporary alliance with an Archaic race. You would be the first humans in known history to seek an alliance with another race." I flicked my tail back, and forth casually, "Worst case scenario you could have a portal ready for evacuation, and leave the Archaic's to defend their own. You'd end up starting all over again with nothing but your lives, but people have been willing to die for a second chance more then once."
I stood up, and turned to leave thinking that I'd made my point.
"They won't like this," he tapped his foot irritably.
"They speak ancient draconic," I glanced over my shoulder at him, "You'll need me or Aurora to translate so yes. They'll hate this whole idea, but it's either this or start over from scratch. Give them your honest opinion. I find that blunt honestly gains more favor then it loses with the people that actually matter to you.
Calen gave me a funny look before allowing me to leave. The vision in my eye was coming back quickly now. I figured I'd have all my vision back in a day or so. That was a positive turn of events for me. I missed having my full vision.
My spatial awareness protected me from blind spots, but I didn't enjoy losing vision in an eye. I would need to train my spatial awareness so that I didn't need my eyes so much anymore. My tail flicked as I walked through the settlement. I got many dirty looks from the settlers as I walked through the settlement. Some of them recognized that I was the only reason that they still had a guild leader, but that didn't stop them from giving me dirty looks for lying.
I hated the way they looked at me. It made me feel disconnected from the general populous. I guess that was a given when you thought about my species. I never thought that I would be in a position like this. I had hoped I would be seen as an ally at the very least, but no. People either reacted to me neutrally or negatively.
I didn't have anyone visibly on my side. Aurora on the other hand ran out the warehouse like a over excited puppy. Goliath had to remind her to let him catch up more then once before they even left the area around the warehouse. Her excited questions, and demeanor had been received better then my cold approach. Her shining white scales took on a light blue heugh in the light of the blue sun.
Her silver eyes flashing with excitement as she ran up to people excitedly. Her wings flaring whenever someone reacted to her aggressively. She had been raised around the werewolves so her tolerance for short tempered people was quite high from what I could tell. She just brushed off their anger, and moved on to talk someone else. Some people would even stop to talk to her for a few minutes.
I noticed that woman took a particular liking to her. Men mostly just scoffed, and moved on. Women either wanted to talk to her or look at her for a while. My guess is that they'd taken an interest in her shining white gem like scales. There weren't many jewels that woman could wear that were white.
Dragon scale would become a valuable commodity if every female dragon had scales that shone like highly reflective gems in the sun. I didn't know if that was just Aurora or if it was every female. I wouldn't find out until I hatched a few more dragon eggs. Her scales didn't even have this shine until after she'd shed her baby scales. The lizardmen would come back in the morning.
