I would have to convince Jax to train the skill. I looked down at Ethan, and smirked slightly. I dropped the egg into my hand as I laid down casually. Rolling it around in my palm as I thought about what I planned to do next.
"They're not coming to help us are they," I smirked.
"Who?" Ethan looked confused.
"The military," I stated bluntly.
"No," Samson overheard what I was saying, "They're not. We don't need aid anymore. We'll call, and inform them when we get the chance."
"Don't," I felt my tail swinging back, and forth casually, "Keep asking for aid. At least once a day. I want them to think we're hurting as much as they are."
"Why?" Samson asked, "We could help them."
"They didn't come to help you," I snorted a gust of flames, "You can offer your aid when they come to help you, and only if they don't send Goliath first."
"What are you talking about?" Jax sounded a bit agitated.
"They hate the wolves," I growled slightly as irritation flowed freely through me, "I bet that they won't come here for at least a month with the wolves asking for help. They won't even think about coming here in force for at least two months unless they think the threat will spread to them. They'll send one person at most in a month to make sure the wolves aren't out of line so why would we go out of our way to help them? If they can't respect us, and treat us as equals then why should we show them any more mercy then we need to."
"You're going to let them die," Jax raised his voice as he yelled at me.
"I will save the people in front of me," I snarled, "If the wolves rush to the military's aid then they will find themselves coming home to a trashed island where they're barely getting by no matter how hard they fight. No matter how many they save. The only way to show a human how much value something has is to take it away. If they never send aid then they have placed no value in our lives. They would have let you all die."
I paused to let that sink in slowly. Lightning trailed along my jaws.
"If I hadn't been here to close those rifts even more would have poured through," I wanted to snarl at Jax again, "All these werewolves. The old, the young, and even the little kids would have died. No one came to save them. So tell me Jax why should they go save a bunch of people that want them to die."
Jax looked like he wanted to say something, but the more he thought about it the darker the look on his face got. These wolves had sheltered him, and fought along with him. He had attachment with them now so thinking about how they would have died made him think it through more thoroughly.
"We're staying here," I snorted, "And we're playing weak while we get our strength back. Then, and only then when we have good reason will we help them. In the meantime we keep asking for their help."
My talons dug into the soft soil. I would need to build my strength while I could. Our strength while we could. The werewolves strength would increase as the mana around us did. I couldn't wait.
I didn't know how long the egg would take to hatch once I revived it. I would rather be alone when I revived it though. If I had to do something awkward to make it hatch then I would rather be away from the others for that. I didn't think dragons sat on their eggs like chickens. The question was what did we do.
I went back up to the cave to revive the egg after that. Ethan would follow me up there fairly soon. Savannah might come with him. I spent the thousand mana to revive the egg without any more hesitation.
Congratulations. Dragon egg revived.
The stone coating fell away to reveal a beautiful swirl of colors. Like there was a rainbow living within the shell. I'd never seen so much color working in sync like that.
Warning. Dragon egg has been in stasis. Egg must be put in suitable environment for incubation. It will lose 1 health for every minute that it isn't in suitable environment.
What is a suitable environment?
Minimum 300 degree Fahrenheit. Mana rich environment.
Where am I going to find something like that?
Dragons are born with one. The egg pouch rests next to their heart.
How do I get it in there?
Swallow the egg. Your body will do the rest.
Swallow it? That's not all that fun. Now the retractable teeth made a lot more sense. I placed the egg in my mouth, and swallowed it. It went down like a horse pill.
Stretching my throat on the way down, and making me want to gag. Then it got close to the bottom, and instead of going in my belly like I expected it to it diverted to a spot next to my heart. A faint glow lit up the empty cavern from my chest. Swirling colors like the egg hidden behind the skin. The glow was faint.
It peeked around my scales timidly. How long will it take for the egg to hatch system?
60 days.
You'd better keep me updated on everything this egg needs. I growled to myself as I thought about how tight my chest felt now. People would ask about this glow. I would refuse to answer everyone, but my bonded. My wings twitched as I thought about the future.
This hatchling was going to change things for the entire world. I wouldn't be the only dragon anymore. The world would start recovering even faster than it was now. Magical beasts would spread throughout the world again. The biggest change I could think of was that human mages would return.
