Chereads / The Archaic Dragon Mage / Chapter 232 - 3

Chapter 232 - 3

What was I doing? I wondered to myself.

Evolution complete. You have advanced to the adolescent stage. New title. Dragon prince.

Dragon prince?

User is the strongest adolescent drakeling currently. Due to the absence of a king or Queen ranked dragon user has automatically been upgraded to a prince ranking.

Why does that matter?

User receives benefits from the partially formed crown of horns. User will learn, and grow at an accelerated rate. User should receive double XP for all kills.

Wait I don't want to get bigger.

Physical growth will not increase in speed user. Just the speed in which user is able to gain physical strength.

Oh. That's not too bad. I shifted slightly. Drawing out startled shouts from my surroundings. I snapped my eyes open only to see the point of a needle almost touching my left eye.

I yanked my head away from the sight with a growl. My teeth felt off as the sound of chains breaking reverberated throughout the space I was being kept in. The chains hung loosely on my frame as I continued raising my head. I barely hesitated as each of the chains going down my neck broke easily. Only stopping when my head reached its full height.

I looked down at the idiot that was about to stick a needle in my eye, and ground my teeth together as I growled at him specifically. Then it hit me. Every single one of my teeth were loose, and dull. They didn't hurt but they felt out of place in my mouth. I lost interested in needle guy, and opened my mouth just enough to knock one of my teeth out with a casual flick of my tongue.

System what's wrong with my teeth?

User is losing his baby teeth. They have been replaced with adult retractable teeth.

Retractable? I opened my jaws slowly, and snapped all my adult teeth out. This sent my baby teeth flying everywhere as the longer sturdier adult teeth shoved them out of the way. I spit out a few errant teeth that had managed to stay in my mouth. Then played with the new ones for a bit before looking down at the science type people that were trying to flee the room.

All except one. He stared up at me with a dazed, and excited expression. Needle still in hand.

"Who the hell are you?" I snorted out of irritation.

My voice had grow a little deeper. Silence fell less then a minute after I spoke as the realization slowly dawned on everyone in the room.

"My name is Mark Snider," the man replied with the giddy disposition of a school girl, "Most military folks just call me Snider. May I ask your name?"

"That was just disturbing to watch," I replied in a deadpan tone as I looked him over.

He wasn't particularly tall. Maybe six foot. Scrawny as if he'd been half starved. Then there was the glint in his eye. It reminded me of a little kid on Christmas.

The bags under his eyes spoke of many sleepless nights, but it was completely overridden by his energetic demeanor. His eyes seemed slightly too big for his face, and his nose had a notch about halfway down that seemed to show an old break that had never been splinted properly. Then there was his creepy serial killer smile.

"Stop smiling," I lowered my head slightly so I could speak quieter, "You're going to give people nightmares."

"Oh dear," He stopped smiling, and mumbled, "Definitely not just imitating things he's heard like a parrot. Maybe a few more questions to confirm his intelligence."

"Are you ignoring me?" I pushed with my arms in an attempt to stand only to find that I couldn't.

The chains pinning my legs, and body were much thicker than the ones that were on my neck. I could probably break them if I really tried, but I decided against it for now. Closing my eyes, and trying to get a feel for where Savannah, and Ethen were. They were above me by three or four hundred feet. Which meant I was underground again.

This was even deeper than the wolves little meltdown room had been. I studied the room around me slowly. All the thick electrical cords laying all over the place gave me the impression that this place had been constructed in a hurry.

"Why are we back at the school?" I snapped my eyes back to Snider who'd been mumbling to himself happily this whole time.

He stopped mumbling, and looked at me again.

"You can tell?" he went silent as if he were waiting for some sort of response.

"Most of the mana in this area is mine," I glanced back at the double doors where the others had been struggling to leave earlier, "It's even thicker down here than it was on the surface."

I inhaled slowly as energy pulsed through my whole body. Is it just me or is the air sweeter than it used to be? System what's going on with the air?

The air is normal.

Then why does it feel so weird to inhale?

Your lungs have matured. All breath attacks now cost nothing for the user to use them. Adding mana can increase the damage inflicted by a breath attack.

That's just cheating.

System fails to see how having lungs that can convert mana into elemental energy is cheating.

Just is. I snorted sparks. Any other benefits you neglected to tell me about?

Venomous skill has now become a bloodline skill. The risk of accidentally poisoning nearby creatures has dropped to nearly zero. User will only secrete venom when user desires. Venomous skill now has the possibility of becoming an elemental affinity.

Can't do anything with that for now so I'll just ignore it for now. Unknown to Wyatt at the time, but this conversation took less than a second.

"Sorry, I spaced out there for a minute," I brought my full focus back to Snider, "What were you going to stab me in the eye for?"
