Chereads / The Archaic Dragon Mage / Chapter 150 - Second years

Chapter 150 - Second years

I woke up with a start the next morning. My wings twitched as I looked down at my watch. It wasn't my alarm going off. I was being messaged repeatedly by Goliath. He wanted to meet up with me.

I switched forms, and pulled my uniform on before heading out to meet Goliath. Ethan wasn't awake yet, but I didn't want to involve him in stuff that didn't effect him whenever possible. I went to the simulation hall, and met him out front. He opened the door for me, and let me walk through.

"That second year is claiming that you started the fight," Goliath closed the door behind us.

"He came after me," I snorted as anger rose in me, "He didn't let me pass, and told me to give him credits."

"You haven't given me a reason not to believe you," Goliath nodded, "But he has witnesses claiming you went after him first."

"Witnesses?" I clenched my fists, "It was just the two of us. I would have noticed any others."

"I don't believe you have a reason to lie to me," Goliath frowned as he thought, "This is troubling."

"Troubling?" I felt the temperature of the room around me drop, "They're flat out setting me up. At the level they think I am I wouldn't be able to hurt a second year. I'm unharmed, and I didn't go to the infirmary. If they have some way to convince them I'm lying about my strength then they'll look into it further. If they do that then I don't even need to tell you what happens then."

"Unless we tell them you have a natural mutation," Goliath looked me up than down, "A strength enhancement ability that I've already tested, and vetted out."

"You really think that'll work," I sat in the closest chair, "Because I think they'll call you out on it."

"I'm a high ranking military figure I can brush a lot under the rug quickly," Goliath shrugged, "If I tell them you're under my direct supervision due to your unique ability they'll be a lot more lenient."

"Your going to back me up?" I looked at him funny, "You know they'll strip you of everything when they find out you let something like me go."

"I'll survive," He looked over to the doors, "I've been stripped of my rank before. It was worth it then, and I'm hoping it'll be worth it now."

"Betting a lot on good faith," I stood up, "You sure I'm worth the trouble."

He nodded.

"Why?" I cocked my head completely forgetting how odd this habit looked when I was in my human form.

"That's my business," Goliath scratched his stubble thoughtfully, "Now show me what you can do without using magic."

I straightened out my neck, and stared at him skeptically for a few seconds before heading down to show him what I could do. I didn't hold anything back as I smashed through obstacles, and dodged projectiles. Goliath really put me through my paces.

"What about my classes?" My breathing was heavy, and my heart was pounding.

I hadn't been worked this hard in a long time. It was actually kind of refreshing.

"You've been excused," Goliath didn't even look up from his monitor.

"You get an awful lot of leeway around her," I finished catching my breath as the next set of exorcises were forming.

"Comes with the territory," Goliath smiled at me, "I am one of the best teachers in this school. I teach advanced combat to the second years, and my club has the highest survival rate out of all of them. I earned my leeway."

Cocky much. I snorted as the start sound went off. I sat down, and stared at the floor for a while when he was done with me. My arms, and legs were shaking from the strain. I hadn't been worked that hard in a long time.

"Are you tired already?" Goliath chuckled as he walked down to where I was sitting.

"Already?" I looked up at him, "Did you plan to put me through more torture?"

"Torture?" Goliath thumped my back, "That was just a basic exorcise plan that I thought up for you."

"Basic?" I debated on standing up, "I haven't been worked that hard since almost dying."

"That's why you have such skinny legs," Goliath chuckled.

I growled half heartedly. Goliath just patted my back again, and left me there to catch my breath. I checked my watch. It wasn't even noon yet. I was feeling kind of snacky.

The cafeteria wouldn't serve me enough to fill me up. System notify me in an hour. I needed to get something to eat, but walking wasn't really an option when my limbs were shaking so much. I debated on switching forms since I could feel that uncomfortable itch that always came with being in my human form. It was a good thing I was to tired to move at the moment.

I laid back, and chose to stare at the roof for a while. I couldn't just lay on my back like this when I wasn't disguised. I relaxed for a while until my system notified me that it had been an hour. I pushed myself to my feet, and headed towards the door. Goliath glanced up at me as I climbed out of the arena.

"Where are you going?" Goliath glanced up from what he was working on.

"I was just going to buy some food," I turned towards him slightly in response to his question, "Why? Do you want me to grab you something?"

"No," Goliath went back to what he was doing, "Just meet me back here by two."

"What's happening at two?"

"Second year classes get over at two," Goliath didn't even look up from what he was doing.

I stepped outside, and got moving quickly. I passed through a narrow unmonitored ally between buildings on my way out of the school. Changing my face on the way through. No one would notice me with this face. I'd gone with a tanned cocky face that looked like it might be Mexican.
