Chapter 73 - Lost

I raised my head to look at her. She'd managed to keep a hold of my bag so sweet. At least I had clothes if I decided to switch to my human form. I didn't see or smell any blood. My instincts were telling me that she didn't have any lethal wounds so she'd be fine for now.

I laid my head back down slowly as all the injuries my body had accumulated throbbed painfully.

"I'll just take a little nap here," I laid my head back down slowly.

Pain was something I'd gotten used to by now so it wasn't that difficult to fall asleep.

I woke up slowly. My head felt heavy, and my body hurt, but nothing felt too serious. I was laying on something hard. Something that was hard, and slowly breathing. I picked up my head slowly as my crusty eyes cracked open slowly.

The first thing I noticed was the white, and grey scale pattern. Wait scales? I looked around slowly as I took in my surroundings. I was in a forest, but not the forest I'd been in before. Then my eyes focused on what I was laying on.

It seemed reptilian in nature with a long neck, and wolf like head with big horns instead of ears sticking out the back of it's head. It had it's arms wrapped around me. I tried to pushed off of the creature, but it tensed holding me against it. It's head came up slightly as it's eye opened. It's entire eye was cold blue in color with a single slash of black that marked it's pupil.

I shoved harder. Trying to free myself from its grip. It let go of me all of a sudden, and I stumbled off of it. It hurt even worse to move. I was stunned by the fact that the creature in front of me had let me go.

I got to my unsteady feet, and watched as the creature rolled onto all fours. It hissed as it rolled off of it's broken wing. I stepped back a few more steps as I got ready to run.

"Don't," It spoke as it focused both eyes on me, "You'll be killed if you run off on your own."

I stared at this creature that was capable of speech. It wasn't even human shaped. It's eyes were two different colors. The left was cold blue while the right was more of a golden color. Those eyes, and the voice were familiar somehow.

The power the creature was giving off was pretty impressive as well.

"Are you just mimicking something you've heard?" I took one more slow step back, "Or do you actually know what I'm saying?"

"Stop it idiot," it stood slowly, "Why would I mimic you? I find your voice irritating half the time."

"Half the time," I started building my mana up, "When have we ever spoken?"

"I guess you don't remember falling through the rift," it's head suddenly snapped to the side suddenly as its scales rose.

I took my chance to run, and I ran.

I sighed to myself as I watched Savannah run. I clicked my broken bones back into place with a single sharp spasm of my wing muscles.

"I didn't know I could do that," I took off after Savannah.

I was a lot faster than her so it didn't take me long to catch up to her. I whipped around in front of her, and stopped. She almost ran into me. She unleashed a fireball that hit me in the side. I didn't take any damage from the hit so to her it seemed like the flames dissipated right after hitting me.

"Really," I snorted mostly to myself, "You can't hurt me. You're better off sticking with me. I'm a lot stronger than you. You'll need that strength to survive Savannah."

"How do you know my name?" Savannah tensed.

"I'm sure you'll figure it out soon enough," I winced internally when my wings twitched, "But we fell through a rift together Savannah. We're out here alone, and we both need as much help as we can get."

"Fell through a rift?" Savannah's eyes slowly lit up as she remembered, "Wyatt?"

"Yes," I felt my eyes drift back down to half closed as I fought back a yawn, "I'm Wyatt. You lost your spear. Your going to need my gun. Let's go get it."

I walked around her slowly, and headed back the way we came. She'd dropped my bag when she got up to run from me.

"Are you coming or not?" I turned my head to look at her with my right eye.

Savannah picked up her feet, and started to follow slowly. She was tense, and jumpy. I couldn't move quickly with her like this. She might spook, and run away. I refocused on the path in front of me.

She would probably feel better with my eyes off of her. I didn't need to do anything drastic unless we got into a fight. I picked my bag up with my mouth when I found it, and dropped it on my back between my wings. Even that little of weight hurt them both. I must have pulled some muscles while I was at it.

I did force my wings to take on a lot more weight then they should have been able to handle. I pulled the knot that was holding my gun loose, and tossed the weapon to Savannah. Savannah flinched as if I'd thrown a live grenade at her, and stared at the weapon on the ground.

"Pick it up," I debated on healing myself as I looked at her carefully, "I've got tooth, and claw. I don't need a gun."

Savannah bent down slowly, and picked up the gun steadying it in her grip.

"What are you?" Savannah pointed the gun at me.

"We have all the time in the world to discuss things like that," I started walking slowly, "Right now I'm not in the mood."

We walked in silence for a while. I was exhausted, and not in the mood to talk. Savannah's stomach grumbled.

"Are you hungry?" I looked back at her, "Eat your bar."
