I stretched my tired body as the burning faded away. I hoped it would stop burning every time I leveled up. Maybe after the rank up? I curled up slowly. I could test my body later.
Right now I needed sleep. I could think about what to do with Savannah after a good nights rest. Blissful peaceful sleep. I awoke to the alarm in the morning. I leapt off the bed, and stretched out my wings slowly.
They'd gotten bigger again, but I wasn't sure how much. A part of me wanted to test them out, and see if I could fly now. There was nowhere I could really test them though. Not without getting noticed. Maybe going VR would be a good idea, but right now wasn't such a good idea.
Ethan had no problem spending credits on me, but there was no way he had an unlimited supply of credits. My wings twitched as I stretched them one at a time. I stretched my body slowly. It felt good to be up. I jumped off my bed, and grabbed up some fresh clothes.
I stowed them up on my back between my wings. Cracking the door open just a little as I peeked out. Ethan was already out, and about.
"Do you glow every time you get bigger?" Ethan stepped closer to me.
My eyes were at his neck level now. One or two more levels till I could look him in the eye without looking up. Right today was club day. I couldn't help but get a little excited. Then I remembered.
Savannah was in my club. I snorted as I went to the bathroom to switch forms. I switched, and pulled my clothes on. Stepping back into our shared area clothed, and ready to go. Then I remembered I hadn't answered Ethan's question.
I'd been so focused on what to do with Savannah. I just couldn't give her anything that could be used to prove that I used magic.
"Club day," I tried to put on a genuine smile.
"You're distracted," Ethan gave me a sideways glance.
"Savannah," I rubbed the back of my neck.
Ethan just nodded.
Trust bond with ally Ethan level up. Trust bond now level 5. User, and ally Ethan can now sense exact distance between each other as well as strong emotional states.
I didn't need to know how Ethan was feeling. I felt slightly annoyed by this new development. Ethan knowing my emotional state might be beneficial though. I was prone to throwing fits so he could catch me before I did real damage. At least that was what I hoped.
I walked with Ethan to his club. I hypnotized him, and headed for my club. I didn't use my hypnotize ability often so it took forever to level up. That was a probably good thing. It wasn't like I could use it on anyone besides Ethan.
Kind of a useless skill really. I walked into the club room slowly. I always got funny looks from the other kids in the club. The low level combined with the fact that Goliath liked me was something that had caught the attention of everyone. Savannah gave me a dirty look as I sat off by myself as usual.
"Time for some sparring," Goliath clapped his hands together loudly, "One on one with some simulated beasts."
Some in the class looked scared while others looked excited. The ones that looked scared were at least thinking straight. Even if it was a simulation they could still get hurt. One on one didn't suite me well though. I wanted the xp.
Now that I thought about it I realized I hadn't seen what my stats were now. I must have slept through the notification. System my xp.
0/800 until level 8.
System my stats.
Health 40
Strength 15.5 (reduced)
Agility 15.5 (reduced)
Stamina 16.5 (reduced)
Instinct 7.5 (reduced)
Damage resistance 8.5 ( reduced)
Mana 80
Most of my stats were reduced by half when I was Camouflaged. That meant I was strong enough to transform twice if I wanted, but I'd be wiped out afterward. That might be quite useful in a pinch. It would probably be a good idea to see what my other classmates could do.
"Colin Dantis," Goliath called out, "You're first."
"Alphabetical order again," I murmured to myself.
Colin stood up, and walked down into the arena. He was one of the kids that looked scared. His watch only read a level three. The scenery changed so that it resembled a forest once again. The trees were spread so there was a path down the middle.
A big snake creature emerged from the ground. It had to be twenty feet long. This thing was way bigger than the little ones I'd dealt with before. It wasn't all that strong though. It's main strength had to be it's bulk.
He'd be done if this thing got wrapped around him. Goliath didn't announce the start like he usually did. The snake started moving. Colin was clearly very startled. He'd expected some sort of warning.
He clicked his sparker producing a bolt of lightning. Whipping the little spark around like his own personal whip, but his lack of battle experience was obvious. The snake struck out, and his lightning faltered. It's teeth dug into his leg, and he screamed as his lightning went away. I stood in my seat out of impulse grabbing the seat in front of me to stop myself from jumping into the arena.
Goliath wouldn't let him get hurt too badly. I sat back down, but the tension didn't drain out of me as I sat there watching Colin panic as the big snake wrapped around him. Then everything stopped.
"Simulation failed," the computer spoke.
"No shit," I chuckled as the tension drained out of me slowly.
"Nix," Goliath clicked away as the snake melted, but the scenery stayed, "Take Colin to the infirmary. We'll discuss how he failed tomorrow."
I wanted to watch everyone fight, but I couldn't argue with Goliath. I stood up, and walked over to the edge of the arena. Jumping over the railing, and rushing towards Colin. If I hurried I wouldn't miss much. Colin could still stand but his leg was bleeding pretty badly.
I tied it off quickly, then switched to supporting his weight. I could probably just carry him, but hiding what I could do was priority number one at the moment. I supported him all the way to the ladder, and the floor raised up so we could just step over the railing. I helped Colin walk out of there slowly as Harley was called to go next. I would miss her round.
