I yawned as I debated on dozing during my classes. I had enough energy to stay awake I just usually chose not to. If I napped I had enough energy to chat with Ethan after classes. It seemed like I burned through energy rather quickly when I was actually moving. My stamina had come up a bit since I'd become a dragon, but transforming sapped my strength pretty badly.
An urge to stretch my wings flitted through me. I was in human form so I ignored it. I was irritated by this restricted form of mine. I felt a pang of something as I realized what I'd just thought. I was human first.
Why did I feel so attached to my dragon form now? It felt like I'd always been a dragon. Had I really only been a dragon a few weeks. I was going to think of something else, but a quiz was slid onto the table in front of me. I filled out the bubbles on the multiple choice sheet in front of me.
I flipped it over, and slid it away from me a little. I didn't want to deal with anymore school work than necessary, but every class had a quiz. When I got to fitness class today was different. There was a shooting range set up with different distances, and guns sitting on a table.
"Starting today we'll alternate between shooting, and fitness," The teacher yelled at the class.
I kind of like that idea since I could take it easier, and would have more energy than usual. We were lined up taking turns on each weapon one by one. In alphabetical order of course so I had to wait a while before I got my turn. They were all fake guns without any real bullets, but they'd been designed to feel like real guns. There were four guns total.
One pistol, One shotgun, One assault riffle, and a sniper rifle. I didn't know how well I'd do with each of them, but I had to try. The pistol was easy enough. I knew how to handle it quite well. I could hit the target with every shot, but not a lot of them hit the bullseye.
Marksmanship level up. Marksmanship is now level 3.
I moved onto the shotgun. This one was easy. Shotguns weren't made for accuracy. They were made for maximum amount of damage. The assault rifle was the similar to the pistol.
Just a lot bigger. I didn't have any problem controlling the weapon at all. It was a rapid fire weapon so the ammo didn't last long. Next was the sniper rifle. I could clearly see every ring on the farthest out target.
Which was odd since it was a long ways out, but since snipers were patient fighters I took my time with the shots. The first shot was easy. A test fire so I could get my bearings. I lined up the next shot carefully now that I knew the kick of the rifle, and the alignment of the weapon. I fired my other four shots quickly.
Only one perfect bullseye. One on the outer rim, and the rest were tightly grouped near the center.
Marksmanship level up. Marksmanship level 4.
I stepped back, and watched the others shoot. My marksmanship was awfully easy to upgrade. I'd have to fiddle with it some more later. System current xp.
170/200 xp until level 5.
I wasn't wiped from working out so I'd have more energy today. I debated on going back to the simulation room, and convincing Goliath to let me mess around some more, but I didn't think it was worth the risk. He'd already guessed too much from seeing me fight twice. It was way too dangerous for me to practice anywhere but the virtual world. I had an affinity for air, but weren't there other affinities I could get.
What were all the elemental affinities again? Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Lightning. I thought they could only be learned through science stuff, but if I took the way I learned air affinity as an example then that wasn't entirely true. I tapped out a message to Ethan.
Me: Do you know how archaic's learn affinities?
Ethan: Not really.
Ethan: ...
Ethan: Don't you have air affinity? How'd you learn that one?
Me: I just remembered how air felt.
Me: How it felt for the breeze to flow by.
Me: How it felt to breath.
Ethan: ...
Ethan: Than why don't you do something similar with the other elements?
Me: Like what?
Me: Burn myself until I know fire?
Ethan: No we should try something safer to start with.
Ethan: What about water?
Me: Water is a healing element.
Me: I need something that packs a punch.
Me: An attack specific element.
Ethan: Isn't ice a branch on the water magic tree?
Me: Ice is a rare ability. There's probably a reason for that.
Ethan: Water is the safest one to learn.
Ethan: Probably the easiest too.
Me: Delete these messages. I'll be deleting mine. We'll try for the water affinity tonight.
I deleted the messages just as I said I was going to, and refocused on the idiots in front of me as the last of the students finished shooting.
"Alright top ten get a second shot at the guns," The teacher called out the top ten.
I didn't believe it when he called my name as well. Was level four marksmanship really that impressive? System what is maximum level of marksmanship.
Maximum level of marksmanship is level 10.
Shit. I felt a hiss go through my my teeth. It wouldn't take long for me to max that out. What would happen when I maxed it out though? Would it evolve like I had? I didn't know.
I stepped down to take my turn. I hit the bullseye with every shot on the pistol. I didn't really try with the shot gun. I could see obvious improvement on the assault rifle as well. I looked through the scope on the sniper rifle, and realized it was actually making it harder for me to see the target so I clicked it off.
Setting it to the side carefully. I half smiled as I started shooting into the target. The first two shots went practically into the same hole. The other three were grouped tightly. Every single one was at the very least touching the red of the bullseye.
I clicked the scope back into place, and set the sniper rifle down. The teacher stared at me with a look of something. I didn't know his face well enough to place the look. I chuckled to myself. He didn't like that.
