Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

Without waiting again, Aquila reached out her hand, lifted her over the counter, and took a step closer. Her lips sought his words, as if she was searching for her answer. He secretly hoped that her girlfriend would never be found. He felt her lips and felt her next to her. Everything that had held him back melted away. All that was left was the man who only wanted to be with the woman in front of him. And oh how he wanted her everything. When she pulled away, he fell in front of her again. She squeezed his shoulder and laughed. "Do you smell it?" she asked, looking around her. A pungent, burning smell filled his nostrils as he followed her gaze. He grabbed her girlfriend and helped her jump off the counter. They looked at the chocolate boiling on the stove. "Holy shit!" she reached out to remove the pot from the stove. "Your hot chocolate," she nodded. Aquila reached out and extinguished all the burners. He didn't want any more distractions. "Actually, I'm at the bakery," he said, leaning over her and pressing his lips against hers again. "Well, really?" she asked between kisses. He nodded as he pulled her back to the counter. His heart raced as her arms wrapped around him again. Everything was perfect that night. I could almost hear the cheesy romantic tunes playing in the background. And he never wanted it to end. A high-pitched phone call tore them apart. Aquila shook his head and leaned over Atiya . "Please forward to voicemail."

She reached out her hand and pressed her finger to his lips. "I need some water, you should buy it." She put her hand on his chest and paused for a moment. He enjoyed the feel of them pressing against him. He wondered if she could feel her own heart beating. She then pushed him until he moved. Even though she wanted every part of him to stay, he therefore backed away. He smiled as she jumped off the counter and went to the sink. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out his cell phone. It was Debbie. Why did she call so late? "Hello?" he asked, holding the phone to his ear. "Mr. Scott ?"

"What do you need, Debbie?"

She was silent for some time. "I just got an email and wanted to know more."

He straightened his back and panicked. "You mean Dallas?"

"No, it's not working. Something else." She seemed very puzzled. Then what? "

"It's about Atiya ."

"Tell me," he said, turning away so Atiya couldn't hear the conversation.

"I know why her father's charter company went out of business," she paused. She cleared her throat before he told her to spit it out. "It was Murillo Charters, your mother's company."

Aquila looked at Atiya and swallowed. That should not be. "Are you serious?" he asked, dropping his voice. "Yes, sorry."

"Thank you," he said and hung up. Mustering enough courage, he looked at Atiya 's glowing eyes and teasing smile. "Are you okay?" she asked, placing the mug in the sink. He could only nod. What should he do now?
