It seemed fast but Jeruel and I were able to get along as we have so many things in common. Though, it has just been two weeks it seemed we have known each other forever and every day In class, I would always go find her, sit with her, and we would talk as much as we want to.
She told me a lot from her past relationships; how guys had promised her heaven and earth only to get between her legs. I could deduce from all she told me that she was a girl who loves the physical appearance. Of course, who wants to be with someone with a gorilla face?
She was what I termed 'Queen of beauty Queens'. The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes. She walked in beauty, like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies. Her magnificent physique was a perfect representation of a goddess. Who dares look at her and not have a second look?
If I were told I talk the hind legs off a donkey, they would be right as I continued to tell her things about my past. Maybe it was only for the purpose of friendship, or I couldn't just control how my lips kept dancing to her music.
"My relationship has been nothing to write home about." I said with a low sober voice.
" I've had quite a number of relationships in which each one ended in tears. The most painful one was the relationship with Olumide. He was such a gentle guy until suddenly he changed. The morning star I knew became the cloudless sky as our ship sunk down into the deepest sea."
"Dele was my immediate ex who was a perfect liar. He lied to me about anything and everything with his words and actions. Such a pity I fell for him and now, the only guy who I admire has been stolen by a person who I thought was my friend." I said gulping down a sob.
"Aren't friends suppose to be there for one another? What kind of friend rob you of what you so much care about?"
"Do you think you can help me?" I asked with a sob constricting my throat, cutting off the words I couldn't bring myself to say anyway.
"Help you with what?" she asked with a confused look.
"To get my man back" I said with stream of tears running down my face. She paused for a minute, maybe thinking about what to say.
"I think everyone deserves to get what they want. It isn't fair how someone can just take what was initially yours. Someone who claim to be your friend. It is true; no one can tell the color of a chameleon. From what you told me, I don't think your friend is your friend. But don't worry, I am here for you." She said with a calm voice.
"So have you got a plan?" She asked.
The truth was I do not know if I got a plan or not but all I wanted to do was to cause a strife, a commotion, something just to drift them apart.
"Maybe making him love you wouldn't be a bad idea. I don't think he would be able to resist your beauty and captivating smile." I noted
"But what do you want to gain if he finds himself loving me?" She asked
"I don't know, but I think if he begins to love you, then he began to treat that thief bad, he would stop giving her all his attention and shift them to you. I think time will do the rest."
"But how do we make him to love me?" She asked with a more confusing look.
"That I don't know yet, but I am sure we will find a way." I assured.
Dele was sitting afar off, but he would not stop staring at my direction. I wondered what he wants with me. The more his persistent stare fetches me from the crowd, the more uncomfortable I became. He looked as if he was troubled, maybe angry but that was his own problem to deal with. Since he lied to me, I do not care about anything that concerned him.
Shade was where I left her with her phone, glued to her palm as her head was buried in the ground. She seemed serious with the phone.
"Is she bugging her phone now?" I grumbled with a steady hissing.
"What's wrong?" Jeruel asked.
"That's her, bugging her phone. Why couldn't she just stop!" I said with an anger that increased the range of my voice.
"Her, who?" She asked tracing with her eyes the direction I was looking.
"Her! The thief! She's there talking to him again. Doesn't she get tired?"
"I can see her now. She's indeed into her phone. Are you sure she's texting or making contact with him even at this odd hour?" She asked
"What else will she be doing? She talks to him every day and every time. Like a person who doesn't have anything to think for herself. She's such a loser." I said in a more silent tone.
"Don't you worry, this won't continue forever, I have your back, and we will get down with this. She can't have what's yours, I will make her regret her actions and in the end, the man is yours to keep." she said as she touched me gently several times with her flat hand and a continuous look into my eyes.
Dr. Boluwade walked into the lecture theater carrying in the crook of his arm some books. Jeruel and I busted into a silent laughter as we couldn't help but laugh at his dressing. I could see it was same for every other students too as everyone started to side-talk. What kind of man will wear a suit, no, a coat, with a well ironed pant trouser on a Pam slippers. Upon everything a jeans face cap?
"This man is just confused" Jeruel said as she laughed more continuously.
"No, he is the newest model in town" I said with a silly chuckle.
