2 weeks later
"Mum the tap's not working" I yelled at my mum form the kitchen
"Seriously" She walked into the kitchen with a crossed face."I knew that plumber missed something"
We've moved into our new house, and it took us like a whole week to settle down, a week later and we still don't have proper taps.
"I'll call the plumber again" My mum walked to the sitting room grasping her cerulean phone. I walked upstairs into my room.
I plumped on the bed and glanced at my vanity where my plate filled with dry soy sauce from yesterday was.
"Bored as hell," I said to myself before picking up my phone rose gold colored phone and dialed Daphne's number.
"Hello?" She said from the other end
"Hey, are you here yet," I asked changing my position to laying flat on my stomach
"Yeah, I'm at the front of your door," She said and I immediately heard the doorbell
I ended the call and dashed through my mum's voice arguing with someone on the phone to the door and opened it revealing Daphne's grin "2:30 said I wasn't going to be late" She smiled and I just rolled my eyes and let her in.
"Afternoon Mrs. Bennett" Daphne yelled to my mum who was really into her conversation but didn't get a reply. "What's up with her?"
"Plumbing issues" I responded and we went up to my room.
"We haven't seen Deliah in the house since yesterday afternoon, my mum's freaking out," Daphne said rubbing her eyes
"Did she say she was going somewhere?" I asked
"No, but I remember seeing her that morning" She huffed "I really hope she's okay"
"She'll come over, don't worry" I consoled
"So, what's up?" She asked grinning
"Nothing, I'm bored as hell," I said collapsing on my back on my bed.
I stared at the ceiling as we shared a moment of silence, I began hearing the sound of basketballs pounding on the floor.
"Ugh, I've had to deal with that 3 consecutive days now" I complained trying to block my ears while Daphne walked up to my window.
"If I were you I wouldn't be so bummed," She said staring through the window
"Why?" I asked as she signaled for me to move there "A boy playing basketball?"
"Not just any boy," She said
"Is he your crush, he is kinda cute" I said acknowledging his features when another boy walked in the basketball court.
"No, that's Jarvis, and the one that just walked in is Teeqo," She said and my heart sank
"F..Fr..Frensby?" I stuttered and she nodded "Oh no" I backed up
"Woah Lani are you okay?" She asked seeing my response
"Yeah... I'm cool" I rubbed my temple "That was certainly not the way I expected to respond," I said and Daphne nodded followed by ding on her phone
"My mum needs me," Daphne said reading the text message just sent to her. "Bye and make sure not to faint" She joked before we waved goodbye.
I turned back to my window and watched as the two Fernsby brothers played basketball "I thought Jarvis hated basketball?" I said to myself.
Like I was scared of earlier they looked even more amazing. I watched as the sun illuminated their light skin causing them to shine and Teeqo, oh brother, he looked like a whole meal.
"NEO!" My mum yelled, causing me to come back to reality
"Yeah" I answered wiping the drool from my mouth that I didn't even know was falling
"What are you looking at?" She asked looking through my window with a furrowed look "I'm about to make lunch" she exited my room
"Well till then" I sighed giving them a last glance before going to the kitchen
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
"Could you pass the dijon mustard?" My mum asked stretching her arm for me to drop the bottle. "Are you ready for school on Monday?"
"No, can we go shopping tomorrow?" I asked
"Sure" She smiled "But you need to get that plate from your room filled with dry sauce down to this kitchen"
"Fine" I smiled and went up to my room.
I rushed to my window to check if the Fernsby twins were still there but they had left and it had begun drizzling. I sighed and got my plate and walked to the kitchen.
"What's wrong?" My mum asked
"Nothing" I muttered
"Are you sure you're moping?" She said
"I said I was fine" I blurted
"Okay you can take your plate of poulet Yassa" She said and I grabbed the plate heading for my room.
"Uh no! No more eating in the room" She stopped me
"But mum!" I whined
"Get your moping ass down on this dining table, I got it assembled for a reason and besides dry sauce stains don't look good on my chinaware," She said and I walked to the dining table
"When you're done I want you to do all the dishes," She said joining me
"Fine" I muttered
"Manually" She added
"But mum! We have a dishwasher for a reason, and besides, I can't get all the dry so sauce from that plate!" I whined
"I said what I said that'll teach you not to leave dirty plates lingering around," She said while I stared at her in pure fury
"So this is all because I didn't tell you what was bothering me? First no eating in the room now manual dishwashing?!" I said
"I never said it was, and stop talking to me in that tone" She scolded "You just earned yourself another full week of manual dishwashing," She said and I dropped my fork in disbelief.
