It's that time of year again.... Where all boys and girls transition into young adults. Also the time where if they show potential, they may be accepted into the great Yuni Academy. The best school in the land for young wizards a like. Many apply but only those who pass the test may be accepted. The test is only a showcase of your specific skill in magic and to see how you've mastered it.
"I'm sure it went fine, Yoro?" Asked June, Yoro's older sister and guardian. Yoro groaned,
"That's what you say but, I can't even remember what happened in that room!"
"Listen," she spoke, "I'm sure that you did amazing. Even if it went terrible, you have a unique skill."
"Utaiboi is rare but—even then I doubt they would accept me." Stated Yoro. Utaiboi, a very specific way to conger magic by singing spells. A very difficult skill to master, hence why the skill is so rare in these times.
"I...." Yoro hesitates, "I just want to be a great wizard, like dad was..."
"I know...." June consoled him, "I also know that he would be so proud to have a son with such an amazing skill."
"Thanks June." He responded. "I guess we'll just have to wait and see in about a month."
As Yoro was singing in order to clean the house, he couldn't hear the sasaya fly in. As the sasaya, a flying orb of sorts, tried to grab the boys attention. It failed, miserably. Finally resorting to an ear piercing ring, that definitely made Yoro turn around.
"I hear you! I'm sorry! Please stop this ringing!" Shouted Yoro. The sasaya quit the ringing and made a paper appear in front of it. Yoro grabbed the floating document and began to read it.
"I....." he reread the paper, "I...made it in....to Yuni
Academy?" The sasaya simply floated up and then down to indicate a nod. He couldn't believe it, he had made it into one of the top magic schools in the land. He soon reminded himself, "I need to tell June, finish cleaning and then—pack my bags to go to Yuni." He could feel his heart race at the thought, 'I'm going, to Yuni Academy.'
"Did you pack everything? You know I can only mail things to you while you're at that school." June said.
"Don't worry so much sis. I've got everything." He responded, while he dropped the last of his luggage next to the door. When he turned to say goodbye he was greeted with a hug.
"I'm going to miss you while you're away knucklehead..." she stated, "I know you'll do amazing there."
"Thanks June." Yoro smiled.
That's when a portal opened up and a carriage came through. Since wizards are used more in the army wizard schools are hidden from everyone except the royals, staff, and students. June hugged Yoro one more time before letting him go. He grabbed his luggage and proceeded to the carriage. Before he could load his thing another sasaya appeared.
"Documentation please." It announced.
Yoro was confused at first but then understood what it was asking. He put his luggage down and looked for the paper he had received. He held it up and the sasaya had made it disappear.
"Yoro Majik. Age, 18. Height, 5' 5. Weight, 66 kilograms. Skill, utaiboi. I will be your personal sasaya for your orientation. Feel free to name me now." It concluded. Yoro was astonished at such a high level spell. He soon snapped out of it. 'What should I name it? I shouldn't think too hard on it...' he thought.
"Hikari!" He announced.
"Hikari it is, nice to meet you, Yoro." It said.
That's when the carriage finally opened and Yoro began to load his things in. When he was done, he put one leg into the carriage. But, he soon ran back to June to give her one last hug.
June laughed, "I know your not that confident but, a scaredy-cat? Please..."
"I'm just...." Yoro started, "I'm just going to miss you so much. You're the only family I have." June smiled at his nervousness.
"You'll be amazing, I'm sure of it." She responded.
"Yeah.....amazing." He repeated.
"Sorry to disrupt, but we must be leaving. There is a lot to tell you about Yuni Academy." Hikari stated. Yoro looked down at his sister and smiled, "I'm off then. Wish me luck." She simply giggled and retorted with, "You don't need luck! You have all the skill you need! Bye!" Yoro ran off to the carriage in excitement and sat down. The carriage soon began to move and another portal opened up. He could see the sudden change in the environment. Instead of an open valley, he saw a forest. Tons of tall pine trees surrounding the school it seemed. He could see the huge marbled entrance. As they went through it he could see all the different buildings.
"Welcome to Yuni Academy, the best school in Kagaya." Hikari began, "This is where you'll spend most of your time for the next three years. The biggest building you see is the main hall, where events are held, like the Kireharu ball tonight."
"Wow...." gasped Yoro, "this place is already more amazing than I thought."
"As you may notice the students are organized by year based on their cape. Yellow is for first years, like yourself. Red is for the second years and purple is for the third years." Hikari stated.
"There aren't many with purple capes..." he observed.
"Well, Yuni Academy is a pretty elite school. If you fail one semester, you are expelled." Explained Hikari. Yoro tensed up at this new information. 'Just fail one semester and your gone!?' He panicked.
"Over here are the dorms, separated by gender. The rest of the sasayas know where to take your luggage. You only have to worry about following me for now." Continued Hikari.
As the day went by Yoro was explained the ins and outs of the school. Some important history about the school and was finally left at the dorms to get ready for the ball.
"Here is your dorm and remember, you have a roommate, don't be scared to say hi. Goodbye." Hikari said before turning into sparkling dust. Yoro breathed in then out.... 'I hope they don't hate me...' he thought. He soon enough we later his hand on the doorknob and opened the door.
"So you finally arrive, did your sasaya take you everywhere?" The other boy questioned. He had dark green hair with aqua eyes. He seemed to be full of energy. Not to mention he wasn't that much taller than Yoro himself.
"Yeah, it basically did..... I'm Yoro Majik. You?" Responded Yoro.
"My bad, I'm Akua Shin. Nice to meet you." Akua replied. Yoro smiled seeing how nice the other boy was. When he looked around the room he could see his luggage in the corner of the room. Yoro spoke up and asked, "So am I on the right side?"
"Oh yeah," began Akua, "I found my stuff on the left so I assumed you'd be on the right." Yoro simply nodded at his response. He walked over to his bed and noticed the uniform. A dark blue with yellow embroidery. All the students attending the ball must go in uniform. He picked up the uniform and headed to the restroom.
"Going to the ball?" Asked Akua.
"Yeah, how about you?" Replied Yoro.
"I'm going," stated Akua, "just know that I won't be hanging around the guys a lot."
Yoro could only respond with, "Oh?"
"I've seen some really pretty girls here. I need to make friends with as many as I can." Said Akua. 'So he's that kind of guy, great.' Thought Yoro. He swiftly changed into the uniform and thought it looked quite good on him. He noticed his messy yellow hair and decided to brush it out. It is a big event for all the students after all. Taking one more in the mirror he saw that he was ready.
"Hurry up! All the girls are going to be taken!" Shouted Akua. Although Yoro wasn't really worried about girls, he did want to go as quickly as possible though. Maybe he'll meet his best friend because he knew that Akua would probably end up just as a friend at most. And off they to the ball they went, with great joy in mind.
