Chereads / Trapped in the past / Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

Kevin had literally disappeared. He didn't pick up the phone and he didn't reply to any messages. This situation lasted a whole weekend and I was worried. I was really desperate but then in a blink of a moment I knew exactly what I had to do.

"If he doesn't want to talk with me then I'll force him." I told myself.

I was already dressed so I hurriedly wore a pair of black sneakers and headed towards Kevin's house. I knocked on the door and a woman, who I had only seen in photos before, appeared in front of me. It was Kevin's mother.

"Hello Mrs. Piercon. I'm Sara, I came to see Kevin. Is he here?"

"Yes, come in. He's upstairs."

I opened the door of his room and saw him laying on his bed. He didn't even realize I was there. His room was a total mess. You could say that it was a landfill.

"Kevin get up!" I ordered.

"Sara what are you doing here? Oh right your necklace."

"That's not the problem. Ryan returned it to me so there is no missing necklace."

"Ryan?"

"Yes, but that's a long story and we don't have time for this. Get up, take a shower and wear something nice. I'll pick you up at 8.00"

"Wait, what?"

"We are going to a party."

"But tommorow we have school and..."

"I don't care! I'll get you out of this hole no matter what I have to do!" I cut him off.

"Ok then."

"If you're not ready when I come I'll beat you up!"

"I'll be... I promise."

"Now that's a good boy! I did what I had to so I'm leaving you."

"Ok bye."

"Bye."

"Sara wait!"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

"You little stupid thing! Are you kidding me? It's my duty as your friend."

"Yeah, right."

"Now, get ready."

"I will... Bye."

I had convinced Kevin to come to the party but I couldn't  answer one of the most simple questions in this world "What will I wear?". After trying almost every clothing in my wordrobe I ended up with my favourite black dress. It was perfect, not too short yet not too long.

Then it was my hair's turn. I decided not to do anything special. I would only put effort in styling my bangs. As for the makeup, a nice natural look was just what I needed.

Before leaving the house I wore my red trench coat and my favourite black high heels. When I arrived Kevin was already waiting outside so I waved at him excitedly. He was wearing a nice green shirt which made his hazel eyes look more greenish and just for a moment they reminded me of Ryan's deep green eyes.

"You look beautiful!" he said scanning me up from the head all the way down to my toes.

"You look good too. Now, shall we go?"

"Sure!"

The moment we got into the club I felt a strong smell of alcohol which is the only thing I don't like about parties. Then something caught my attention distracting me from the disgusting smell.

"What are you looking at?" Kevin asked but I didn't pay to him any attention.

Then he looked towards the direction I was looking and I really hoped he had short-sightedness or something. Samantha and Luke were kissing.

"I'm really sorry! I didn't know that they will be here. Are you ok?" I asked him worried.

"Yeah, totally. It doesn't matter."

"Then why you were like a zombie a whole weekend?"

"I don't know. Probably my ego hurt more than my actual feelings."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, of course!"

"Then that's great for you!"

"Ummm...Do you want a drink?"

"Yes, but I want something without alcohol."

"Ok, I'll be right back."

While I was waiting for Kevin a guy slightly shorter than me and obviously drunk approached me.

"Dance with me." he ordered.

"No, thanks."

"Then you want something more than that." he said grabbing me from my waist and then pulling me closer to him.

"You're being disgusting! Let me go!"

"Don't you like these little games princess?" he said kissing my neck.

"No! Leave me alone!" I screamed pushing him away.

"Not so soon princess! First we'll have some fun together and then I'll go." he said coming closer to me again.

And then I saw it. He was holding a knife and I had to think fast. I grabbed his arm making him throw the knife on the ground and then I pushed him away. But he didn't give up so I gathered all the courage left in me, took the knife from the ground and without even realising what I was doing I turned him around holding him behind and placing the knife on his neck.

"You should have listened to me when I told you to go away." I told him with a threatening tone.

"Please let me go! I promise I'll stay away from you!"

"Do you think that you'll get away with it so easily?"

"Calm down Sara!" a familiar voice said.

I looked towards the direction I heard the voice and I couldn't be more surprised.

"Ryan?"

"Yes, it's me. Now please calm down and let him go."

"Ok." I said letting the drunk guy go.

Then Ryan grabbed him from the shoulder and looked at him angrily.

"Where do you think you're going?" he said to him.

"But you told the girl to let me.."

"I have said many things in my life without meaning them." he cut him off.

Suddenly Ryan punched the guy's face not once, not twice but three times and what surprised me the most was that he didn't faint after all these punches he took.

"Now you know that no means no!" he said letting him go.

"Ryan what was that?" I asked furious.

"I just taught him a lesson."

"You told me to let him go just to beat him up?"

"You would kill him Sara!"

"What is going on babe? Who is she?" a girl I hadn't seen before said to Ryan.

"Wonderful!" I muttered annoyed.

"We don't want to interrupt your conversation but you two have to come with us" two policemen said looking at as.

"But we didn't do..."

"Please don't cause any troubles and come with us!"

"Linda I'm sorry but I have to go." Ryan said to the girl next to us.

"Ok." she replied and left.

As the policemen were leading us to the exit of the club Kevin appeared out of nowhere.

"What did I miss?" he asked confused.

"You're here too?" Ryan told him annoyed.

"I'll tell you later." I said to Kevin and we left with the policemen.

At the police station we were told that we would stay there at night because we had attacked an innocent man.

"He is not an innocent man! He attacked me!" I told trying to defend myself.

"Can you prove it?"

"No." I mumbled.

"Actually yes! I was there too and saw everything!" Ryan said full of hope.

"Yes but you are a complicit not a witness." the investigator said vanishing all of our hopes. "Seargant, take them to the lock-up!"

I felt like a criminal. Maybe I deserved to be there.

"I barely know you and they have arrested me because of you!" Ryan yelled at me.

"Are you kidding me? It was your decision to beat him up!"

"I don't regret it. At least we'll be finally alone."

"Excuse me? You were at the club with another girl that called you babe!"

"But that doesn't mean I don't like you because I like you."

"Do you want me to remind you something that you said?"

"What did I say?"

"I have said many things in my life without meaning them!"

"But that's not one of them."

"I can't believe you and I don't want to."

"Let's talk about something else. Where did you learn all that Chaki Chan staff from?"

"From a friend."

Who had turned to be my worst enemy.

"I'll call my mother. Do you want to call yours?" Ryan asked distracting me from my thoughts.

"Why will you call her?"

"Everyone has the right to make a phone call, that's why. You didn't answer me though. Will you call yours?"

"No."

"But why?"

"Because that's not something really important and I can deal with it alone. It's only a night in the lock-up after all."

"Then I'll not call mine either. I hope that Kevin will keep his mouth closed. So.."

"Shut up Ryan!" I cut him off.

"Why?"

"Because you have pissed me off and I want to sleep!"

"Ok then, goodnight."

I didn't answer. I just closed my eyes and fell in a deep sleep without dreams.
