Here's a little more about me. My name is Penelope. As I have already revealed, I am a magic user. My powers are extraordinary and extremely dangerous. I have the ability to tamper with time and space. I am the only one with such abilities, even Olive can't replicate what I do. I have the power to see potential futures, teleport myself across the land, and break and create realm barriers. My existence is known only by Olive and the few people who she deems trustworthy, as many monsters would gladly use my powers for their own gain. You know enough about my powers now, Olive's story is what you're here for.
"Penelope it's great to see you." Olive rejoiced smiling wide. Too bad I had to break her smile.
"I'm sorry Olive, but I have come with terrible news." Her face turned stern and serious, but she didn't say anything, just looked at the ground.
Luka spoke the words she was thinking, "Is the about the King, and Olive's nightmares."
I nodded solemnly and then added, "The king - no he dosen't deserve that title - Xaivier wants to see Griffin Point fall. He fears you and the other magic users in town. He fears we may have the power to overthrow him."
"Overthrow him? He is not even a real king! That is a poor excuse to send his guards on our people!" Luka lost his temper, smashing his sword on a nearby tree.
Olive, surprisingly still calm, asked, "Did you see anything else?"
"Yes, I did. Nathaniel is in terrible danger."
This upset Olive, a worried expression fell on her face. "What's going to happen to Nathaniel?"
"The Lord of Darkness have begun to rise once more. Nathaniel will unfortunately encounter him."
"The lord of darkness - what could he - will he -."
"Turn Nathaniel into a dark night. I don't know. The Dark King's realm is difficult for me to see into."
At this point Olive broke down. A tsunami of tears streaming down her face. As I walked over to comfort her Luka cut me off, "You've said enough, Penelope. I think it's time that we leave. Thank you the warning."
I didn't see them leave, my head was bowed in shame. My powers always seemed to hurt her.
By the time Luka and Olive made it back to her house the sky had been dotted with stars. Nathaniel was waiting by her door. A short conversation took place. Which ended with Luka reluctantly going on patrol and Nathaniel escorting Onlive inside.
Once safely inside and away from listening ears, except mine, Olive shared with Nathaniel his inevitable fate. "The lord of darkness, what could he want with me?"
"Penelope doesn't know. All she said was that you will encounter him. But I'm scared Nathaniel, what if he kills you?" Tears flooded her eyes for the third time that day. She look into Nathaniel's deep brown eyes. Then hugged him tight, hiding her face in the chest.
"Hey, it's ok. I not going to leave you."
"How can you promise that, anything could happen."
"I know, I know. Hey, do you want me to stay with you tonight?" She looked up and smiled, tears cascading down her face. Nathaniel helped helped her up the stairs to her room. Olive immediately fell asleep, her head resting on Nathaniel's shoulder, a slight smile on her face.
The sound of a plate smashing and Issa's frustrated scream awoke Olive late the next morning. Nathaniel had already left, leaving a note on her dresser. The note read, "Good morning Oli, sorry for not being there when you woke up, but, well you know how it is. A guards life is extremely busy. I promise you that I will stay away from any trouble today, so no need to worry about me. Also thank you for the hug last night. Looks like my dreams became reality. Sincerely, your favourite guard (and hopefully future lover) Nathaniel."
By the end of the note Olive face was beaming. She always admired Nathaniels ability to make her laugh, as well as his persistence to win her hand.
As she got out of bed she realized she had slept in her dress from the day before, the blue fabric crinkled, Nathaniel had untied her corset, and Luka's flower still sat in her hair, wilted. This reminded her what he had said yesterday, and she changed into a rose red dress.
Downstairs in the kitchen the clumsy maid, Issa, fumbled around making Olive's breakfast. After the second smash of glass Olive camebolting down the stairs. "Are you alright, Issa?"
"I'm fine just a little clumsy this morning."
"Here let me fix up this mess."
"No you shouldn't use your magic for something this small. I can clean it up." Olive ignored her, and in a couple seconds the plates had been repaired and a lovely breakfast for the two sat on the table.
"Well I don't know about you, but I'm hungry, and let's be honest that is worth using my magic for. Would you care to join me."
"Always Lady Olive."
About halfway through their meal there was a frantic knock on the door. Oblivious to its urgency, Olive calmly walked over and opened the door. For the second day in a row she was greeted by Luka's frantic face. "Olive! It's Xavier! One of his ships just docked here!"
