Chapter 16 - 16; it's Time

What was she doing here?.

Was this her place?."

How did she even get there?.

How could this be her place.

She was a Queen.

She was Queen Cyaran.

She was a mother.

A mother to a future king.

How did she turn out this way?.

How long had it been, 18, 20 years?. She had been locked up for twenty years because she was mourning for the Lost of her little princess.

How was her son and husband living without her. Were they miserable as she was?. Her little boy was now a grown man, her little boy was soon going to be a king. But, where was she?. He had grown up without the guidance of a loving mother.

She was more focused on her daughter who was no longer coming back to her. Was she too cruel to her husband and son?. Was it her fault that she couldn't help but mourn for her daughter.

What about her people?. The people she had vowed to protect and provide for. Was she too cruel to them as well?. Would they blame her?. Twenty years without a queen or have the king married a new Queen?.

Had she been replaced in the the heart of her husband, son and people?. What was going outside those walls. What had she missed?.

"Servant" Queen Cyaran called softly as she adjusted herself on the dirty bed....what her life had become.

Seconds later, the door opened and walked in a maid. Queen Cyaran took in the girl's posture. From the way she stood, to the way her hands tremble at their side. She was scared.

Queen Cyaran didn't blame her. She was obviously a new maid and she must have heard what had happened to the previous maids that came to serve her. The queen shook her head pitifully. Since when had she turned into a monster to be feared by her own subjects.

A monster. Was that how they saw her now?. How would she be able to rule if her own subjects thought of her, unstable. Would they be happy to have her back or had she already been replaced without her knowledge. But, how could anyone replace her. Being a queen was her destiny. Who would change that?.

"What's your name?" The queen asked. Her voice sore and raw.

The maid stared at the floor, she joined her hands together in front of her as they sweat. "A-Adele, your hi-highness" her voice shook as she spoke. What was she so afraid of. So far, the queen had not shown any signs of hurting her....or was she waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The maid bite her lips. Was it her turn today?. She had only been serving the royal household for a moon now. Was her dream already over?.

"Where is my son?" She asked.

"He is with the king, your highness" seem like, she won't be dieing today... lucky her.

"Get him" she ordered and the maid found her way out.

Prince Albert hurried his steps. His mother was calling him, his mother. The woman who gave birth to him, the woman who lost control of her own powers. The woman he had missed. The woman who used to read him bed time stories, the woman who was supposed to be there for him, watch him grow into the man he was. But, he didn't blame her. This was his little sister they talking about.

The sister he was supposed to protect and care for. The sister that was supposed to grow along side with him. Yes, he was four when she died, it affected him more than expected but not serious like his mother.

She never went crazy, she was only mourning. He never wanted to lock her up. It was his father's idea and he was young then, he had no say but when he began to understand things. He realized that his mother was not meant for that room. But what surprised him more was that, she never tired to leave or escape.

She was Queen Cyaran after all, one of the most powerful queens in the five kingdoms. The only queen in history to possess the ability to control water. She stayed locked up in her own free will. She decided to mourn alone.

Father had said she would decide in her own time, but when was that time going to come?. He would be king on his twenty-fivth birthday. Was he going to be a king without his mother beside him?.

He had grown up without the love of a mother. Wasn't that enough?. Had he not suffered enough?.

Finally, he got to her room and rushed in. There she was, sitting on her bed like the Queen she was.

"Mother" his breath got caught in his throat. Her blue eyes met his grey ones. The only figure they shared was the color of their hair, his sister got everything from her.

Slowly, the queen stood up on her feet. Her dress torn and dirty.  She felt dirty. Her eyes flashed blue and the chains around her wrist broke and fell on the floor making a clanging sound.

"It's time"
