Fen had no choice but to watch from his position within the forest as the Mages in his Squad began preparing complex sequences of Mana that would later construct into the Edge spellwork, grumbling to himself about his own inability to help them as he ripped the trees around him from the ground, simultaneously drawing the roots out to soften the dirt. Every once in a while, a flash of light would tell him that they finished another part of the spellwork, followed by the inevitable draw of more energy to sustain the magic constructs.
It wasn't that he disliked being a force of destruction within the forest and creating a small clearing around the hill, not at all. It was just that the moment he stopped talking with them and landed within the dark shade of the trees, the voices started up again with renewed fervor, feeding off his loneliness to attack his mind.
