Chapter 6 - Eviction Day

On May 17th of 2017 is the day that we were evicted here's what happened that day a day that we will always remeber.

My dad was in the hospital had been since Monday early morning my dad was put in the hospital with chest pains and that was a God send because of the eviction and having no car with Florida heat would have made things worse for my dad.

So the morning of the 17th we were on our toes waiting for the officer to come to the door and tell us that it was time to leave and we didn't hear anything all morning and then the afternoon came and we were about to take the dog for a walk when the manager and the officer along with maintenance came to evict us now as I said in the last chapter there was no police car just a plain everyday car not even an unmarked car for the police.

So we got ready to grab our stuff and before we did we asked the officer if we could wait with our animals until animal control came to get them he said no and he was cruel about it but we didn't argue we grabbed my dads wheel chair that we had piled high with bags and the bags that didn't fit in the chair and we left with heavy hearts and we felt like we had failed even though we had done everything to try and keep our place to live and our animals and we failed so as we walked out way towards the hospital we were in tears.

I turned to look one last time at the apartment entrance when animal control went in and it made it worse but we had called my dad and told him we were on the way and that we would get there as soon as we could it was hot we hadn't eaten anything and we were depressed now this is when we met our first angel while being homeless she asked if we needed a ride perfect strangers we told her we would be greatful for the ride and even though she had a small car we cramed what we could into the trunk along with the wheel chair.

She took us to Burger King where we were going to get lunch and from there we were going to go to the hospital to stay with dad even with all of the stuff we could carry now I know your probably wondering how we had money to eat? The answer to that is we sold a few things so that we could have a little money to eat and maybe stay at a hotel after dad got out of the hospital at least that was the plan now here's what happened oh and mom got her last paycheck.

Now we knew everything would be OK because we knew God would take care of us so we got a Lyft to the hospital and when we got there we took all of our stuff up to my dads room figuring that we could stay at his room till he got out and then we would find a hotel that wasnt yo much a night well that didn't happen the nurses told us we had to find a place to stay even though the hospital has a place we could have stayed but because we were locals they didn't let us stay there.

So we found a hotel that we were able to stay at for not much and be able to be close to the hospital because again we didn't have a car and we were on foot so we didn't want to go to far the nice thing though about the hospital and the hotel was we had air conditioning and the hospital had dad even with his health bad we made it work God took care of us so the first night we stayed at the hotel it was nice we thanked God for being able to do that now here's where things get even worse I called the united way here in Florida to maybe get help to stay in the hotel thru help by them but they told me they couldn't help me because they didn't help with that even though my family and I had just lost our home.

That was the next morning so we had breakfast checked out and went back to the hospital where we spent the day and then we were told again that we couldn't stay at the hospital which sucked because there went more money we could have used this was on May 18th now I'm not going to bore you with every detail leading up to my dad being discharged and getting no help from the hospital but I will say that it seemed like the hospital was treating my dad really bad because we were then homeless and we had really nothing to our names.

I promise I'm not making anything up that you are reading from the start of this to what you will be reading its all true it all happened and it still happens and we know it does because there's nothing that has changed since it happened to us.
