Chapter 4 - chapter 4: settel in

"come on! hurry up!" Varsity Yelled loudly at me as my feet dragged against the floor as I slowly chasing after her from behind to catch up with her supernatural speed.

bits of dust flew out of the carpet bit by bit spreadding around and gathering onto my shoes, the more my feet would be pulled along the more the dust would gather up into one.

Walking in i see none else there, only him at the bottom of the large, oak, glossy table looking down at a small screen with a stern look on his face, his thumb rolling over the screen slowly going up and down every so often.

He was clearly texting someone and would rarely lie it down, almost like it was attached to his hand.

"Ugh hum" i cough out grabbing his attention from his phone.

'Who knew they had phones' i said in my head and then sighed.

Varsity was stud by the door and she looked rather hungry as the devil just ate up ignoring her presence in the room.

I sighed and slowly ate up the food that was given to me.

Slowly i picked a peace of food up onto my cutlery and placed the food in my mouth with a spoon smiling at the lush taste of jambalaya in my throat.

The rice was a mixture of long grain and short grain rice, A mixture of chicken and shrimp sat in the bole along with different vegetables going from tomato to onion along with herbs and spices all nicely tied together with a creamy tomato puree and plump, chopped up skinned tomotos.

It was the best jambalaya i had in a long time; there was no drought about that.

"Why is none else here?" He asked looking at him with a frown expecting other to slowly arrive but none ever did.

"Because... there not aloud unless i say" he said and glanced up at her with a frown playing on his lips as a small and silent sigh escapes his mouth.

My hand was holding onto the table cloth tightly waiting for when i could hit something from his ignorant scowl till he finally looked at me with a smile.

"I'm joking. They eat with there families and friends. I don't have many of that" he said and looked at me turning his grumpy scowl into a gently and warming smile as if at command.

My head tilted slightly as my eyes rolled in annoyance to his comment, It was surprising, but at the same time it was expected that they would stay with there families for dinner but the devil, he had none he wanted around or believed he needed to be around. He had no family, or so he was telling me.

My mind wondered around my own head aimlessly as I picked at my Jambalaya before my thoughts came to a halt at the thought that I didn't have much in my room, in fact it wasn't that welcoming to me, then again who would find hell welcoming, it was hell, the place none would want to be.

The devil slowly lifted his head looking towards me and razed a brow, I could tell by the way he was looking at me that he was wondering what I was thinking about.

Sometimes I thought about if I would ever go home, other times I thought did I even have a home left to go to without Chaise and Cora.

After a while i looked at him with some courage gathered up inside of me.

"I want to get my stuff?" She said looking at him and then back at her plate as she played with the food she had left on her fork.

The devil thought for a moment clearly contemplating weather or not to trust me to get my things but i guess even he knew it wasn't home to me any more, nowhere would be now, none would be now.

After a while he answered my question with a small and quick nod of his head.

We both carried on eating once he had answered my question.

Even though i had finished eating the devil still hadn't finished his bowl, he was just slowly taking in small spoon fools.

It took him what felt like hours to finish his food.

The devil slowly got up as he wiped his mouth with a napkin, making sure there was no food left around his mouth with such etiquette manners. His pace was slow and he made me follow along slowly, my legs dragging onto the floor as I walked along side him, My teacher used to say 'the devil never talks to those who want him to talk only those who wish he wouldn't. I never thought he would he telling the truth but he hardly ever talks to me unless I ask for it over and over again.

His steps echoed through the halls as his heals clicked against the floor.

"How are we even getting there?" I asked running after him as he made longer strides with his legs then I did.

"well there is the portal or this-" he said and snapped his fingers, smoke consumed us both, wrapping around aware bodies like a cocoon would to a caterpillar when it was being reborn into a butterfly.

It was like before, the time he brought me down to hell after I had found out how Chaise was betraying me with my best friend.

It happened the same way he did it before, one second I was in hell the next I was in my room.

It was exactly the way I had left it when the devil came to get me.

The blanket was partly on the floor but only slightly as it was hanging off of the side of the bed, cloths were scattered around randomly piled up upon each other.

The place was only small and barely had enough room for one person, i didn't care though, it was cozy to me.

The walls were a creamy brown and the floor was a dark grey colour.

Nothing was ever tidy in her small apartment, the only thing that was ever clean was the small kitchen I had to put up with, nothing would fit properly unless it was tidy and clean in the right places.

"Grab the cloths you want and put them in the bag" he said with a sigh skimming over the room briefly with his dark, night blue eyes.

I sigh searching through the cloths on the floor looking for anything I would want to wear in the future and the once that weren't so dirty or ripped up. Many of the cloths were baggy and hid her body shape, there was a rare few in her draws that fit her body perfectly but those were cloths for hot days or private occasions.

The devil smirked looking over them and would now and then skim his eyes over the furniture one by one taking them in, there wasn't much as the place was so small and could hardly fit anything in the place, there were three rooms as well the kitchen and bedroom were two rooms with a small thin wall with a window between them and the other was the bathroom.

After a while the devil had marked over some of the furnisher in the house such as the bed I owned and personal items that had collected over the years such as my small collection of dragon figures.

He was on the phone to someone describing all the furniture he had labeled over the phone to whoever was on the other side talking to him.

once he had hung up I opened my lips and asked. "Who was that Mr Devil?"

The devil looked at me surprised and razed a brow slightly.

"My name is Asher please use it?" he asked with such good manners that it was almost hard to believe that he was the Devil for a split second, till I realised this was the Devil I was thinking about not a ordinary person you saw every other day.

"-and that was one of my subjects there going to bring a van to get your furniture" he said putting the phone away and placing it into his pocket once again.

After a while large boxes were packed with objects that I wanted to come with me to hell.

The sound of a veicals horn was herd outside of the building causing my attention to be dragged to the window.

Outside stud a dark blue Luton van with large long base wheels.

At the drivers seat sat a muscular African-American black male, his eyes and hair were a dark chocolate brown colour as his skin was a lovely caramel covered in black inky tattoos littering in random places all over his skin.

He slowly made his way up to the building entrance, but once he got to the door he just walked through the glass and into the building.

Lights began to flicker slightly as he entered but then stopped after a few seconds of interference from the male.

Within a few second the male walked through my apartment door and was looking strait at me.

The devil, Asher just smiled looking at me.

"Luce, this is Malik he's helping me move your stuff" Asher said as Malik just nodded looking at the room slowly lifting up boxes and takeing them through walls with him.

The male was very fast and could carry many boxes at once, lights would flicker on and off every time he came in and out of the building to get more boxes but after a while they just began to disapear along with him.

"don't worry. he's just teleporting the boxes into the van so we can get to the portal quicker" Asher said as he looked at me with a smile on his face.

I slowly nodded my head and sighed carrying the box I had down stairs and slid it into the back of the Luton van. The drive to the portal was pretty long so after a while I took a small nap in the back of the van, surprisingly they had two large pillows and a blanket allowing me to get as comfortable as I could without having to scrunch my body up into a ball. Once I had woken up I felt the ground beneath me had changed, the hole feeling of my surroundings had changed, slowly I opened my eyes to look around me to see were I was, I was back in my room, the place filled with my boxed items ready to be unpacked and put into place.

Looking around the room Asher was nowhere to be seen, he had disappeared possibly back to his work, or to the dungeons were criminals were kept ready to be torched for what they had done in there lives.

I was so tierd that i hadn't even relised it was now dinner and slowly sat up swingging my legs out of the bed and walked out headding for dinner with Asher.

☆☆☆☆☆☆

After a few weeks it had passed it had become normal for me to be around the Devil or Asher, I would even nicely sit down with him to have dinner alone with him as I had none else to be with, he would even put his phone down now and i was more comfortable around him, however I still had nothing to do but read books from this large library he had shown me about three days ago because I kept looking at places I wasn't meant to be in although he never told me why other then 'its dangerous' or 'because I told you so'.

"How is your book?" The devil, Asher asked looking at me with a spoon in his mouth as he slowly slurped up the soup taking the thick liquid between his lips.

I looked at him and smiled a bit.

"Good, my mom used to read it to me when I was little or when i was board" I hummed out folding one of the pages to mark were i had gotten up to in the book so I could get to it again without having to remember what number I had gotten up to.

The food we was eating was thick and creamy as small chunks of mushrooms floated around at the top with some bits of chicken mixed with a unidentified type of hot spice that grew in hell.

Asher looked at me gently with a small smile on his face while the spoon was placed against my cold lips ready to be slerped up.

"What was your mom like?" Asher asked simply.

I went sighlent for a momment, thoughts rattled in my head on what my mom was like as i tried my best not to cry un front of him, i may have been use to his company, but i was not ready to let him see me cry.

Thinking back to my mom I always remembered the way she would tuck a small peace of hair behind her ear when it got in the way and the way she would sing to me at night when i found it hard to fall asleep when i was young.

The words she sang would constantly go around my head when i was scared or felt alone.

"When you are alone. And you need a hand to hold. I will always be here. Right next to you..."

Her voice was soft and gentel and could carrie more then one-hundred hearts along with her, she was like the light of the sole and no matter what she would never die out.

I looked at the book one more time and smiled at the cover.

It was a fiction book that was very large and had over one-hundred pages and at least more then twenty chapters, as a kid I always had a fasciation with the Disney stories and fairy tale books children would read. They was always so child friendly and my mom thought they were so sappy with there happy endings and life lessons but my mom saw how happy I was reading them so she aloud me to hear them read out even though she would cringe at the every time.

The cover was smooth and had small patterns going all around the trim of the book along with a random peace of paper for a book mark.

The tittle wasn't that long and wasn't hard to remember it was called "happily ever afters" it made me smile and in a strange way very happy, so far I had gotten up to Cinderella were the prince was fitting the shoe onto the sisters feet and seeing how they tried to make it fit even though it didn't.

Asher began to smile more and looked at me happily.

"you know I used to always read that when I was younger to heh.. I was around maybe I few centuries old but in human years I was eighteen heh" he said and looked at me gently.

The thought of Asher reading a kids book astonished me especially the fact that a few days ago he said "there is no such thing as a happy endding"

Over the past few weeks I and asher had been making small talk like this a lot at dinner now; I had slowly started to obay his rules, there wasn't really anything bad I had seen from him yet so I found no need to hate him as mutch anymore, he even went back to my old home to grab some of my stuff for me so I didn't feel so out of place in hell anylonger.

There were a few times were asher would act stanger then normal were he would ask me to stay in my room for a long time or were he would hide away in his office for more then a day.

I would ask about it a lot but he would never tell me what it was about only that it was for him to know and for me to never find out.

"oh Lucy don't go in my office I have a lot of work to do and none else is aloud In there today. understand?" he asks me sternly and I nod looking at him carefully wondering why I wasn't aloud in there still and why he had made it so clear not to go in there today.

"i never go in there anyways" i thought to myself as i just give him a small nod in reply and finish the rest of my soup up.

After dinner I walked back to the library stearing down at the pages of the book taking in the rest of the story i had yet to finish even though i already knew the endding off by heart.

While walking back down the hall i saw that varsity was carrying a vast amount of ingrediants down the hallway with the help off of her brother and two other demons that were mutch larger then her, in fact they were even larger then me, well at least i thought they were demons till i saw they were nothing like the demons i had already seen in hell it was more like a minotaur.

"i guess it must not just be demons down here" I thought to myself.

Shrugging it off i walked into the libary pulling the old door open and stepping into the wold of books and amazement.

The libary was linned with so many books going from over one-hundred years old to the moast reasont once that had came out even less then a second ago, it was like the libary updated itself all the time organiseing the books into alphabetical order and categorical order, it even went in order of years.

Every time I went to the library I almost found myself getting lost every time at the large size, it was even worse then the rest of the mention some how it was bigger and was even more like a maze, or the Tardis from Dr Who.

Multiple amounts of spiral staircase went up to the second and third floor above of my head as another went down even further to two more other floors it was literally never ending; it was almost as magical as the one in the Disney's version of beauty and the beast.

In the middle of some bookshelfs were some stone statues of heads, everyone of them were different from the last and varied from human males and females to different creatures, one of them was Asher the Devil and one looked quiet different then all the rest it had no animal features only one that was barely noticeable, a pair of cat eyes that looked beautiful and perfectly captured into the stone portrait.

A gold plaque sat under the statue a name craved into it saying "Asmodeus.

devil of sensuality, luxury and creature of judgment" in a neat signature style of writing.

Random chairs and tables were laid out on the floor a dark crimson red mat laying under them all stained with small pockets of coffee and tea were people had slowly been passing the time in the past with a book of there choosing and a drink to put there minds at ease.

My mind emidiatly began to imagen different sanarios of people and creatures going in and out of the library with there books and stationary supply's.

With a huff I skimmed my fingers over old and new book covers taking in the feel of them all once again before choosing a book I liked the look of in a book case holding books from the 1850's to the 1870's.

One book I picked out was a old French book translated into English called Les Misérables, it was a French novel written by Victor Hugo in 1862 and was about a late revolution after the French revolution ended.

The second book I picked wasn't as old it was made maybe a few years ago maybe, it was called the lovely suicide children, it was wrote by Ms_Horrendous.

They both looked rather interesting. They looked like they were a good read so I sat down, opened up one of the books and began to read Les Misérables slowly getting more and more sucked into the book like a tornado or a whirlpool would.

I smile as I learned more about the characters in the book smiling happily at the small love triangle between three of the main character named Cosette, Éponine one was taken in by the main male character who used to be a thief and the other the daughter of two in-keeps that took anything they could from there customs and scammed all the money they could as the boy was called Marius, he was friends with the daughter of the in keepers but didn't relies the feelings she had towards him.

Slowly my eyes began to burn from the long amount of reading I had done, steering into one place for so long with my eyes glued to the page like the story was really happening in front of me.

My head slowly looked towards the old fashioned grandfather-clock that stud against the wall right next to the door way.

The time that showed amazed me, it was now forty-five minuets pasts twelve in the afternoon, past midnight, it was almost morning, I had stayed up till fifteen minuets to one in the morning.

inching myself up slowly I put the books into my small sholdure bag and open the door of the library, slowly i walked back down the hall and to my room, enjoying the peaceful stroll of the night.

When I got back to my room my blinds are shut and the sound of nothing some how filled the air, it was strange how I had come so accommodated to the strange way of life in hell easier then i did back at home.

My room was no longer the way it was when I first arrived, it was now rather cosy and comforting for me.

The walls were a lovely light creamy brown and the floor was a a mixture of dark brown with small bits of brunett and a bit of red mixed into it all, my bed wasn't the same one i had before in my own home but it was the same colours and design sceam as my old home was.

The pillows were a light baby pink as the covers matched with small dots of white randomly placed over the quilt, a window was on the left side of the bed as a small bed side cabinet was on the right holding a lamp up creating light that streamed across the room.

The window had one of the best views to the outskirts of hell to, a field that led far out like a country side and the long never ending stream of red liquid that resembled water.

Letting out a relaxed sigh I look over to the large book shelf I have against one of my wall and hang my bag up happily onto a hook, slowly i pilled the two books out smiling as i placed them neatly onto the bookshelf.

Slowly I take off my cloths and put on a fresh and clean pair of Pyjamas for the night, curling up into my bed I smile and slowly drift off into a world of my own imagenation.

In the morning I flicker my eyes open slowly looking around the room, my eyes were only open into small slits because of the blinding light coming through the window i had axadently left open before going to bed.

As usual varsity knocks on the door polightly and walks in with a tray of many breakfast foods varying from cereal to a traditional hearty morning breakfast.

My curtains were pulled open more and i smile slightly opening my eyes to a new, fresh day as i slowly rubbed my eyes over a few times to get rid of small bits of sleep in the corners of my eyes.

My eyes were still stinging from the long stay up but i didn't care that mutch about it, the only thing that bothered me was the fact that so many demons were in my room at once.

"Did you sleep well?" Varsity asked kindly looking at me with a warm welcoming smile as she always did.

Nodding slightly a yawn escaped my lips quickly.

Looking at the clock by the side of my bed it was six fifty-three, so it was almost seven o'clock in the morning, i would have normaly been up by nine or ten in the morning but i guess varsity had something go show or tell me today.

"so why am I up so early?" I asked looking at varsity with a tired yet happy smile on my face.

Vartity smiled happily and waited for the other demons to leave the room before she began to explain that we were going outside to look at the gardens close to the devils home.

My heart began to leap out of my chest and i smiled happily looking at varsity with a overjoy.

I had never been aloud outside and it was hardly ever long enough for me to get fresh air.

Varsity smiled even more letting out a giggle as she watched the smile on my face grow.

"Ill be waiting for you to finish breakfast outside" varsity said with her high pitched voice then walked out the room shuting the door behind her.
