"we're here!" Mia chirped
"yay!" you sarcastically cheered
"can you try to be a little more excited? pleease~" Mia whined
"I'll try" with a poker face you entered the large building.
You were lying if you said the building in front of your very eyes wasn't huge, it was a bloody skyscraper
' bruuh... how rich are the Smiths?'
The inside was even better than the outside; it was so captivating. You eyed the interior decor on the walls and boy were you moved. In fact you were sorta feeling depressed looking at the whole building with the thought of
'I can't even build half of this building even if I worked till I died'
And you weren't even exaggerating
'le gasp! is Mr Smith part of some secret association? ' you thought again
'or maybe he's just really hardworking.....' You tried to reason with yourself
Both you and Mia worked forward only to be even more shocked with what you were presently seeing. A huge water fountain right in front of your eyes
'yep! he's definitely part of a secret association' You concluded.
"follow me" Mia called for your attention as you did as instructed
"where are we heading to now"
"up" was all she said
You passed by the front office desk secretary who had this constant smile, it sent chills down your spine.
"creep" you mumbled
Mia lead you to an elevator, you both entered and she pressed the highest button which was the top floor. The elevator closed and started to move upwards.
While on the elevator you you couldn't help but feel kind of anxious
The elevator signaled with a "ᴅɪɴɢ" as it opened.
'I need to join whatever association the Smith's joined'' you had come to a decision
The top floor was a million times better than the ground floor and of course it needs to be like that considering the fact that the CEO works up here.
"now I'm going to my cabin and I'm believing you'll be great with out me. The CEO's office is up ahead, i want to believe you've got this and you are sure to get the job even if you wore my bad luck for a dress ok?" Mia looked at you with all seriousness
"trust me" was all you said before bidding each other good bye
"I can do this, get the job and earn some money and quit. That's it, yhup, I've got this" you kept telling yourself as your hands held your files tightly. Your heels were the only thing you could hear at this point as it made very strong clicking noises each time it came in contact with the perfectly tiled floor.
You stood in front of a door and the aura you were getting from it by just looking at the huge door was making you feel chills.
You knocked twice but no answer so you decided to knock the third time but before your knuckles came in contact with the door a very deep voice had replied
"Come in"
"I'm not really sure I want to again" you mumbled inaudibly as you took a deep breath, putting your very best smile and opened the door
You were shocked seeing the man in front of you
'is he the father or the son???'
"Good morning sir, my name is Rita the psychologist you asked for" you bowed as you tried in all honesty to sound formal
"oh" was all he said as he put down the paper he was reading and looked at you with intimidating eyes and before you knew it a huge smile was plastered on his lips
"its nice to meet you Miss Rita. I am Mr Smith and I believe you know Mia right?"
"yes Sir, I'm actually a friend of hers"
"please come, take a seat" Mr Smith ushered you with his hands to a seat in front of his huge desk
"uh, Sir I brought my résumé" you carefully dropped the folder you were holding on the table for him to take a look at
"there would be no need for that" the sudden words caught you off guard
"I believe any friend of Mia's is bound to be hardworking" he continued
"if I may ask, where are you from?"
"oh, I'm from Nigeria sir" you nervously smiled
"Ah... Nigeria" Mr Smith smile became wider... if that was possible
"That's wonderful, I once lived in Nigeria... It brings back so much memories"
'cause the memories bring back memories bring back you' you couldn't stop your mind which had suddenly started singing
"wha— Really!?"
"yes, it was just for five months though. I was on vacation with my family and I have to say the dishes made there were exquisite especially the jellof? No no uhh... Ah yes! The party jollof rice made there is one in a million"
(A/N: if you know, you know🌚)
"I wish to go there during the holidays again" You had just been smiling seeing how he was expressing himself
'Mia, you sly hoe!'
"That'll be nice" you smiled
"the way your country shows their culture is so heart warming and interesting" he continued
"I'm happy to hear that sir"
"Tell me about you"
"well, I'm a Nigerian as you now know. I'm just 21 years old" He nodded listening to every bit of your words
"I studied medicine as a course but later decided to go to the field of psychology and I'm the only child of my parents" you smiled feeling contented with the little you said, not wanting to go into much about your whole life's history
"hm, I like the fact that you're concise and straight forward, you've got the job!"
'eh?'
"S-Sir?"
"yes you've got the job plus you look like someone who can properly handle my son. I like that"
'eh!?'
