"Animal Trivia, huh? I remember this one, it's one heck of a sociological horror. I'd be on my guard, though, since I didn't have to build any mechanisms for the floors ahead except weird hands and stuff. They're designed to be dangerously good at killing. I did label stuff though. We are all together for these next challenges, but I don't think that will help us at all." Lorence said as he got ready to open the doors to our next challenge. "Welp, there's no better time than the present," I said. Lorence then opened the doors and we saw the king of the jungle's head in a mechanical hand. I knew Lane loves animals so I held his hand. "W-W-What is this?" Lane said in a small voice. Lorence then shoved us behind him and put a hand on one of his daggers. "Stay close to me and do not leave my side. This is a safari tour with a twist, so I'm guessing he wants us to be the stars in this place." Lorence said, inching forward, his hand still on the dagger.
Just then, Lorence stopped and stiffened up a little. "H-Hey, do you know what these buttons are for? I'm getting a really bad feeling about them." Lorence said, stepping to the side to reveal a bunch of buttons on the ground in front of us. "I'm sure I left a note about it at the beginning. Don't step on them." Lorence said. Then the speakers turned on and quietly played carnival music while the murderer talked to us. "Hello there, kiddies! It's always been my dream to do this, have innocent children get filled with rage and hatred. Soon, you'll learn how to have fun without the heavy shackles that our memories or our feelings keep piling onto us. I hope you enjoy this challenge... thoroughly." The recorder played, shutting off abruptly at the end. Then the music got louder until we could barely hear our thoughts. This left us in a very tight spot because in this challenge we're in a dark safari with metal hands holding dead animal heads around us. It was creepy and the fact that we could only see the lights at the edge of the path and the dimly illuminated animal heads obviously made it way worse.
Lorence turned to us and said to Lane, grimly, "We need to cross, can I throw you?" I was a bit against that idea but I knew the alternative was much worse. "O-Okay." Lane said, a bit nervous. "I'll throw you at the count of ten, okay?" Lorence said, picking up Lane. "Um, okay." Lane said, bracing himself. "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one," Lorence said, throwing Lane over the buttons. "Now you, Lee," Lorence said, picking me up. "What, no asking me?" I said, trying to lighten the mood. "Haha, I guess not," Lorence said, throwing me over the buttons. Lorence then stood still, and I knew he was contemplating not jumping at all. "Come on, man, jump! I know you can do it, think of everything we've been through! You can't give up on us now!" I exclaimed, trying to hype Lorence up. Lorence then leaped over the buttons, but when he landed his foot hit one. He then got away from the buttons quickly and the speakers turned on again.
"Well, well, well. Now I know what you're thinking, and you're right. You just stepped on a button after my warning, so I guess that means one kid has to go. Bye-bye, Ms. Duchanburg!" The killer said, followed by multiple gunshots. The speakers didn't cut off until after Susie was killed. Lane and I turned to Lorence, and we were both shocked. Of course, we were crying, but we were crying less than we would've been since we have each other. Lorence collapsed on the floor, trembling. "I... I killed them... I-It's my fault! Godd*mn it! What's the difference between me and that man..." Lorence said, getting up and balling his hands into fists. "Lorence?" Lane and I said in unison. Lorence seemed to have snapped out of it and stood up. He looked furious. "Let's go," Lorence said through clenched teeth as he put a hand on his knife and started walking forward again.
"Stay close to me, you two. If you stray too far, I can't guarantee your safety. If you guys die... I-I don't know what I would do. Now let's get ready for a battle." Lorence said, walking a bit faster. The carnival music was blaring and it was really dark. All we knew was that something was changing since the sound of gears turning was even louder than the music. Just then, the hands were illuminated again and a voice started talking on the speakers. Now the hands had the carcasses of dead animals in their fingers. "Hello there, contestants! Time to put this show on the road as we answer some... Animal Trivia!!!" The peppy murderer said to us through the speakers.
