Chapter 8 - Dyslexia

The letters resemble messy symbols,

Are written backward —

Sounding out vowels and consonants,

Like a breeze, my mind —

.

Mixes up letters, b and d, J and G.

Not understanding what needs completing next.

Practicing and tutoring

But only failing.

.

Never understanding the directions,

Underestimating my rogue skills.

.

Why don't I understand —

What is written, pronounced, and supposedly correct?

Re-reading more than once —

Information and words never playing.

.

Math is worse;

It's soundless.

How can I write what isn't there?

I don't, it hangs, nameless.

.

Funny,

English is my biggest strength:

You mess up "I" and "me,"

While I enunciate correctly.

.

Don't correct me,

When you don't know the difference: "Your" and You're" —

I will fix YOUR mistake,

As I ink correctly.

.

No, it isn't "Me and my friends,"

It's "My friends and I."

You might be picky,

But I know grammar rules never taught appositely.

Guess who is "a year behind" now?

Not "I."
