Chapter 29 - Chapter 28

Arthur slowly swaggered back into Emory's apartment. His black peacoat over a black shirt and black pants. He looked massive even though black should be slimming. He clinched his fists and then unclenched them.

"Does she know?" Emory asked taking another chug from a dwindling whiskey bottle.

"That I gave you the go ahead to take Tally in Canada? No. And she won't find out either." Arthur grumbled taking the bottle from Emory. "I would no have given you permission if I did not believe you had imprinted."

"Did you do it to pacify me or did you see yourself as me?" Emory gruffed.

"What do you mean?" Arthur asked looking around the lavish apartment that had been destroyed by his beta.

The drapes were shredded and the upholstery on every piece of furniture looked like a badger had been digging for coins in the cushions. The walls were scratched beyond repair. The only thing holding up was the large flatscreen. At least Emory's wolf had been prudent.

"The warrior standing on the outskirts, looking in at the woman that belongs to him. A woman just within his grasp but yet still so far away," Emory said poetically.

"I guess it's true what they say, 'find a terrible wife and you become a philosopher…'" Arthur snorted.

"I can't believe she left me," Emory sat down on the floor next to a shredded arm chair.

"You're no doing yourself any favours," Arthur remarked. "You need to get a reign on your emotions and when we find Tally, be the man she needs."

"How quaint coming from you," a voice came from the entrance of the flat.

"I smelt you as soon as you entered the lobby," Arthur growled not even looking at Takoda. "I thought you would have the sensibility to wait until I left."

"I have every right to enter my cousin's den." Tak murmured as he assessed the apartment. "Are you renovating, Em?"

"Tally left him," Arthur growled as he turned to Tak.

Tak's black eyes shot up, "I was unaware she was with him, to begin with."

Emory growled from the floor. "She's carrying my baby."

Tak looked between Emory and Arthur. "What the fuck?"

"Tak…" Arthur warned him.

"My sister is carrying your breed?" Tak seemed stunned. "What about Cavendish?! He's her mate!"

Emory growled and his eyes grew yellow.

"Their bond failed," Arthur explained as he watched his beta. "Her wolf was already promised to Emory."

"She's your cousin!" Tak shouted. "How the fuck did you manage to get her pregnant?"

Emory began to change and Arthur realized this was too much.

"Stop!" He roared at Tak. "His mate and child are gone and you are not helping."

Tak backed off Emory.

"Sorry," he whispered. "I'm just catching up."

Emory tried to catch his breath and Arthur could sense the pain he was feeling.

"Does Caleb know?" Tak asked casually.

"Your father knows," Emory grunted trying to rein in his wolf.

"How the hell did that conversation go?" Tak asked sincerely.

"Pretty well actually," Emory hissed. "My uncle is anything if not logical."

"He knew this would one day happen," Arthur looked at Emory wondering if he would ever face the same pain. "Him and Emory were the only ones aware of the imprinting."

"So if Caleb sees Emory, he will most likely try to kill him," Tak realized.

"You have the worst timing of anyone I know," Arthur growled at Tak.

"You only say that because your mate wants a piece of this," Tak pointed to himself.

Arthur's eyes glowed silver and Emory began to pull himself together so he could protect his alpha.

"Tak, shut up," Emory said between clinched teeth as he stood to his feet.

"Where is Tally now?" Tak asked Emory changing the subject.

Emory shrugged. "If I knew I would go find her."

"To drag her back?" Tak asked.

Emory shook his head. "Just so I could be near her. My wolf is going crazy."

"If I were to go find her, would that settle you a bit?" Tak tried to read Emory.

Emory nodded. "But how would you find her?"

"I'll take Lilly with me," Tak said casually.

"The fuck you will," Arthur growled.

"The fuck I will? I mean if she wants too," Tak smirked knowing he was getting a rise out of Arthur.

"Don't try and impress your cousin," Arthur growled. "I'm the only man Lilly has ever had."

"There is more to do sexually than penetration," Tak shrugged.

Arthur moved on Tak but Emory got between the two males before Arthur could tear in. Tak realized he was far smaller than both the men so he should not push his luck.

"I think it's up to Lilly," Tak said simply. "I'll ask her once I'm done here with my cousin."

Arthur realized he should go. Nothing was to be gained by sticking around.
