Chapter 24 - Chapter IV

Welcome back, how's it been? Yeah, yeah, yeah, blablabla, that's not important. I've been doing some thinking – not that I have anything better to do – mostly on who your perfect partner could be, but first, something's troubling me. The first thought in my head when you left last was that somehow, the emotions you bring back have become stronger than usual, it's really putting me off.

You seem to have reverted to your younger ways, from high school especially. You've regained that want to fix society through naivety alone. Back before then you always ran around their house with that red cape, announcing how a superhero was "here to save the day". Hah. You made them pretend to be in danger so you could save them; it felt like every day was a new problem of theirs for you to solve. They did have problems, of course, just not the ones you knew, only the ones you caused. Ironic that a 'superhero' would cause more problems than the villains. That act had stopped by high school as that was "lame" and "childish". That was a lie. You would tell your friends how you would fix this society and how your opinions were common sense and that you would enact on these decisions when you became old and rich. That was a lie; three lies to be exact. You changed nothing when you were older, none of those policies was preached. If anything, you actively disobeyed your own commands: what would a child know, anyway? Next, you had no confidence at all that you were speaking common knowledge. When the world's ears turned death to you, you proclaimed how you were the only one sane, you were the only one wise, you were the only one rational; you're deranged. What was the next lie? Well, it's obvious, isn't it? You didn't tell anyone this, to begin with. I must have forgotten to mention one critical detail. Those friends were as real as you.

I say that, but eventually, there was one, wasn't there? The love of your life, 'till death do us part' – which is true since you are dead to everyone already. I am kind, so I won't bring up her name as you do that enough yourself. A foreign exchange student, one with no knowledge of how to communicate with her classmates, like you. That must be how you bonded so quickly. People like you must unite in weakness. Maybe out of a need to feel better than at least one other person. You made that person her. Is that dominance something you still lust for till this day? So, that's why you run.

Your relationship built over many months. I like to picture it as a chicken marinating in a fridge. It grew more excellent and more significant with time, but after a certain period, it became stale; before long, it grew foul, and other organisms took the opportunity to take a piece.

Sorry, I've gone on a bit of a tangent. What I'm trying to get across is, life is like a cycle, always reverting to a starting point, maybe you are destined to meet another 'till death do us part'. Maybe, just maybe, nature will take its course and sort out your perfect partner for me. Granted, that means I have to put up with you going through mood swings again, but after the storm comes the calm. All I ask is that you don't mess this up a second time. I'm warning you. If you keep burning down all your bridges, then you will have nowhere to run. It'll be just you and me. Forever. Until death do us part, of course.
