Jacob's POV
Marriane sobbed lightly but shivered uncontrollably. It wasn't long ago that I'd found her to be one of the dwarves that cared most about the rest of them. When I'd presented myself three weeks ago with a pushy commanding attitude and outright determination to save the dwarves, she'd not followed me around to make sure I fulfilled my promise. During the times we spent alone or with Sylvia, I noticed the smile on her face whenever something went well.
Eventually, I'd found out that she was the origin of the mass suicide goal. She was tired of watching the dwarves suffer in famine and asked Finn to stop struggling to keep them barely alive. They were running out of ways to stay alive and even then, Finn had refused to give up. In the end, they'd gotten into a fight… Marriane's superior skills as a fighter helped her gain the upper hand in the fight and that was the end of the discussion.
